What size are the pics you are uploading ?? -- He has a 2MB size limit per photo and 5MB limit per post also only certain formats are allowed so make sure it is one of those listed.

2@ Around 4.2mb apiece....However after a long freeze frame thing, it comes back saying file too large the limit is like 2500kb (or something like that), and format is a Jpeg, Thing is in the past not a big deal, but this has been a ongoing problem for like weeks now...However its not that important, Ill just not use any pics I guess.

Hey size queen, your pics are too large. Reduce size to below 2mb each and try again. Tisnt rocket surgery.

   4.2mb apiece....

THat would be the problem - the size limit for the forum is 2MB a piece so you'll need to either resize or lower the jpg quality setting to get them below 2MB.

Nope... After yet another try, it says "Max total 5120 KB", That KB, mind you, not mb... AND a restriction of a individual size of, (ready for this guys?) 2048KB... So maybe I am just not seeing this 2mb limit you guys are talking about, but never been a problem before,

Jen, you do realize that 2048KB = 2MB, right? (Kilo=1,000  Mega=1,000,000 -- numbers are rounded down for easier math for people who aren't uber-geek fluent in binary-to-decimal conversion)   ::)

The current default resolution and/or color depth on your camera is too high for forum-friendly pics -- see if you can turn them down a notch or two.     ;D

I look forward to seeing your latest project.

Yep as PL1 mentioned there are 1024KB in 1 MB so a limit of 2048KB would be 2MB per picture - overall 5120 KB or 5MB total per post and limit of a maximum of 8 pictures per post even if they are less than the 5120KB (5MB) limit total - figure computer systems are based on binary - so units are powers of 2 so 1000 Bytes would fit more efficiently in 1024 unit sets rather than just wasting the extra 24 units of space so a KB was designed as 1024 Bytes and for the same reason a MB would be 1024 KB

My new favorite Jenn quote of all time. Maybe you arent PBJ after all. Take your pictures down to a reasonable resolution and you should be golden.

Jenns guides to resizing, uploading and posting pics.  Cos I got nuffink to do at work.  :-\

To resize image to well under 2MB
1.   Open image in Paint (this works in Vista and upwards)
2.   Click on Resize button and resize using percentage until the image can be fully seen at 100% sizing on your desktop, that   means no scrolling around to see the full image ya?
3.   Save re-sized image.

To post image using preferred BYOAC approach:
1.   Create a reply in the ‘NOT A PROJECT - Thread for Posting Images to Link in our project threads’ thread.
2.   Click on Attachments and other options.
3.   Click on Attach\ Choose File and browse to the image file on your pc
Example: Kip.jpg  (only 428KB or less 0.5 of a Megabyte).
4.   Post your reply in the NOT A PROJECT thread.
5.   Right click on the image and choose ‘copy image URL’
6.   Create a reply in ‘Jennifers upload test #1’ thread.
7.   Type some guff.
8.   Click ‘Insert Image button’ from the row of buttons above your post
9.   Paste the URL you copied in between link brackets.
10.   Press preview to make sure your post and linked image all look sweet.
11.   Press Post and voila! A correctly sized image:

12.   Enjoy the pic of my dog Kip as a Bubby.  He’s still a Bubby now, only just a much larger Bubby.

Now you have no excuse.

P.S.  I don't use this approach as I prefer to maintain my images in either Dropbox or other imaging hosting site as per PBJs mention.  But the linking method is just the same.

Cute puppy!!!, Something good came of this thread  ;)... The Imugr, and dropbox thing, Ya not going to happen, that would require Jennifer to admit shes to stupid to understand how to use them,  However the paint , I did look at that, and seems to share similar traits with P/S, so that seems to be a viable option.....THX.

Wait...you can use Photoshop but can't get your images under 2mb?  Save as a jpeg and move the quality slider until it drops under.  There is an onscreen display that tells you the filesize.

wasnt sure if she meant photoshop or paintshop but yeah she change quality sliders or resolution fairly easily in either one

Image resizer for windows is a great tool.  It adds a context menu to explorer so you just right click the picture and "Resize".

Can someone explain why it is preferred that pictures go into the the "Not a Project" instead of the actual thread you want to post in?

As crazy as that sounds, Yes this seems to be the case. If I was was going to stich some photos together, vector it, or create a file for print not a problem...However uploading a simple pic for web, Well, this seems to be my undoing. (Let the records show, I have uploaded pics before, I do know how to do it, Just never had this problem before.) When I get a free minute I"ll bring it into my workspace and take another look at it.

C'mon Jenn post up a project with pics already.  There's like, well, zero other women here (that I know about) and from what I've read you have workshop skills worth sharing.

I covered how to link images that are uploaded to BYOAC.  Linking images in a project thread is better than embedding  images as attachments directly in that thread because it gives you more control of sizing and layout etc.

Paint is native to Windows and easy to use.  I know Photoshop really well, but I still click on Paint for a quick re-size for forum posts.

Oh yeah, well I haven't noticed her around much  :dunno  Actually there's probably quite a few more infrequent female members I think I've seen here or there.  As the saying goes "the squeaky wheel gets the oil"  and Jenn is the squeakiest  ;D

[/img] Ok, finally.... The pic quality has been compromised however, the paint should be really, really shiny, But this was one of my most resent projects. Its a cute little stand for my Rockwell 4 inch jointer. Made from scratch with a wirefeed, tig, and a torch.

Jennifers upload test #2....You may have a good point there lets try,
The size seems good, however the original quality is gone. I don't however seem to have (or ever had) the rotated problem described in the other thread.

Ok, lets try this then....  Well, Well , Malenco, You seem to have recaptured the resolution on a cropped pic, You are AWESOME!!....Jenn seems to still be confused but WHATEVER, ::). For those that are curious about the paint, It is not a OND quality flat shine, It was painted to withstand abuse over time rather than to be pretty.... in a downdraft heatbake,  3 coats of zinc rich etch prime, 3 coats of single stage sealer/primer, sanded with 400grit, coated with epoxy sealer, and shot with 4 coats of industrial poly color, and baked to a rock hard finish.... The orange peel is somewhat normal for this paint but was minimized with a bit of acetone.

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

If I was was going to stich some photos together, vector it, or create a file for print not a problem...

Well if that is the case ( http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,146257.0.html ) :laugh2:
The problem there is he"s not wrong, Multiple scans like that do start to lose a bit of connectivity, quite noticeable after about 6, I used to think it was the scanner, but after trying a few different ones the problem persists.... Most of those files should line up just fine but the ones that don't can be zoomed to 200% and line the key areas, the rest needs to be patched.

Well it"s fun you would think that :P (Blush) You would be one of the few that would most likely understand the obsession of a good build.
