Custom TMNT... Cocktail
« on: June 26, 2015, 10:41:03 am »
OK, saw this on KLOV, thought you guys would get a kick out of it...

Custom TMNT Konami Arcade Game

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-TMNT-Konami-Arcade-Game-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-PIZZA-TIME-/301672135336?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item463d0f7aa8&rmvSB=true

I'm going to be honest - I respect the creativity that went in to this. It's not for me, sure, but I like how he made a dedicated, correctly-themed TMNT cab instead of just throwing a 60-1 in it or a Pi that can play OMG!!!10,000 GAMEZ and calling it day. It's a specialty, niche build, but it fits the niche nicely. It's a TMNT machine. So kudos, you crazy diamond.

Oh, I agree. But he's consistently stupid.

Imagine how much cooler The Barrel of Kong would have been if it only played Donkey Kong games. Anything else just makes it another MAME cabinet.

Interesting. This was Scott's Idea...

- TMNT in a stack of pizza boxes/delivery bags -- controls covered by the delivery bag flap when not in use.

Even down to the flap, huh? Someone must be mining BYOAC for money-making opportunities.  :dizzy:

Probably right down to the flannel control panel and cheese scented buttons.

Dude, can you imagine OLED buttons that showed a different variant of cheese, depending on the game? HELL YEAH!!!!1!

Wow.  Good memory.

I wouldn't want that thing in my basement but it is kinda clever.

Same here. The theme and concept (a TMNT cab) is what sells it to me, as opposed to say putting an LCD and a Pi in a tire and it not having anything to do with racing games.

Forgot all about that thread.   :lol

Kudos to streetfighterken on KLOV for finding and posting the e-bay listing.

Not sure if the builder got the idea from BYOAC but it is fun to see the build details like the green "ooze" LED fan and oven-style volume knob.  (Pics attached for posterity)

I actually like the look of this. Like others have said, its a theme piece that is well done.  :applaud:
