That is their problem.  I find myself not wanting to build another cab as the days go on.  I stay because I have found a good group of people that not only talk about arcade machines but also take the time to listen and ---That which is odiferous and causeth plants to grow--- within the forum about a wide variety of issues.  If anyone feels they are being censored unjustly then I suggest they find another place to be.  The internet is a large place.  It's like getting mad when someone asks you not to swear in their house.  You may find it commonplace to swear  within your own house but some people may not share the same idea.

I find myself widening my scope as the years roll on.  I used to be all about mame and emulators... these days I could care less.  All the games I wanted to play from my youth were emulated over 10 years ago... and I've played them... over and over and over.  So now you see me working on stuff like pc games and what-not.  I've gotten into racing cabs because those were the few games I couldn't play on the old mame cab due to control limitations.  As for cabs... I don't have a lot of interest anymore.  LCDs have *almost* superseded arcade monitors at this point so making a big 200lb cab to house 5 lbs and 2 cubic feet worth of gear doesn't make as much sense now that I've gotten the nostalgia out of my system.  I've got a vertical crt cab, my main one and the upcoming driving cab.... I'm done with that side of things.

About the moderation and stuff... I can remember when that policy was implemented.  There was a time when we all used to gather in the chatroom of the evenings... there were 20 or 30 of us some nights and Saint would flat out ask us what we thought about certain stuff.  At the time, the reasoning behind not swearing was that we were all adults (for the most part) and if we kept the language polite younger builders could frequent the forums without worry.  These days I'm not sure how necessary it is as the average age seems to be 30+ but I still think the intention was good and I do my best to abide by the rules out of respect.  And that's the issue when you get down to it.  Do you respect the people who run the forum or not?  If you don't then maybe it's time to take a break and re-evaluate why you hang around here.

Another factor might be that the quality of the builds here is so damn high. People who are new to this, having zero experience, might be a bit intimidated by the awesome builds floating around here. I certainly was.

Yeah except your build was freaking awesome....

I tend to agree with you  ;D But none the less I didn't know that beforehand. I thought I was going to be shot down for not doing an arcade related theme and that would have been that. I probably would have built it anyway, but I don't know if I'd still be in this forum today.

Shortly after discovering this forum, I planned to throw together a cab that weekend.  I wasn't even aware emulators existed before discovering byoac via searching for megatouch info.  Then I looked at the builds for ideas and decided I was not ready.  It was 2 or 3 years of soaking up info on here before I felt I was ready.  I did use an xarcade tankstick during that time. Part of me wishes I'd just threw together a crappy cheap cab.  I'd probably played it more than worked on it.  And if I wanted to change something, I wouln't have nice artwork or paint to worry about.  I'd just keep hackng it up.

That's why people don't change their cab, but go on building second and thirds  :)  I dunno. I couldn't just throw together a cab. My reasoning is that if I'm going to put a lot of work into it, I might as well give it my best shot.
