Pelican Universal Real Arcade Stick Issue with PC (for Mame usage)
Organic Jerk:
I'm at home from college right now and since I bought it here at home, I've had to try using it on my brothers equipment. He has a Radioshack PSX-USB converter (Cat no:26-304) and it doesnt even recognize the controller being plugged in. (It DOES recognize regular pads, just to be clear) My concern is that I've purchased Radioshack converters in the past and I've had issues with dance pads, so I have little trust of radioshack on this matter. I have an EMS USB2 PS converter at my dorm and I'm wondering whether it'll work, or if I should return it while I'm still home. It would save me UPS shipping costs. SO if anyone could come with some sort of solution, that would be great! I'm dyin here because I really just want to use it in MAME !
Any suggested proven working converters, or any other help is gratefully welcome.
Thanks!
SNAAAKE:
The pelican universel stick dont work with any converter.same with universel steering wheels too.
:(
Organic Jerk:
Thanks a bunch, SNAAAKE! :D
Since the packaging allows me to just slip it back in, I'm going to return it, "unopened".
I'm also thinking of exchanging it for the strictly PS2 one. Do you know if that works? I'm not keen on wiring and such, but I imagine the problem was that the XBox and GameCube signals got in the way? If my simplistic reasoning is correct, then getting the PS2 one shouldnt be a problem, and it should work, yes? :-\
Well one can only find out. I'm gonna end up exchanging it tomorrow morning anyway. Hopefully it works. If you have any other info, tho, Please share!
Thanks for the help
arcadecab:
I have just the PS2 version of the Pelican Real Arcade with a radioshack ps2 to USB adapter and it works great with MAME (PC). I was seriously considering the Universal version, but also heard rumors that it didnt work with the adapters to play on PC. I believe the universal one supports analog along with digital games, while the PS2 one only supports digital games. That was one of the only attractions going with the universal as I dont imagine I will play it on Xbox or Gamecube, but then I cant think of too many situations where I would use the analog with the Real Arcade either. In short, I love the PS2 Real Arcade from Pelican and it works awesome with my adapter. Good luck.
Organic Jerk:
Well, I purchased the Real Arcade PS2 version and it doesn't work well with the converter. Every other controller, including other 3rd party ones, work fine, but when I plug in the Real Arcade into it, I can only get responses if I move the joystick or press buttons rather slowly. The moment I press two buttons fast in succession, it freezes up. As you can imagine its not a great experience playing Marvel vs Capcom and having to press a single punch or kick button every 2 seconds to be able to play. :(
At this point, I'm at my wit's end with the thing. I figure its the converter, but I'm not sure at all. The radioshack converter we have is a fairly new version of it, since the last one that I bought (That didnt work with dance pads) looked differently. I'm not sure if internally they are any different. hey arcadecab, does your Radioshack converter look like this:
http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=26-304
That's the one we have. If yours does look like that, did you download any new drivers for it or anything? Any specific things you did to get it to work properly? Or is it just my bad luck? :-\ Any help would be more than useful.
BTW, just for reference, This is the converter I own at my dorm:
http://www.levelsix.com/detail.aspx?ID=2
Any knowledge on whether that will work?
Thanks!
