Mame4all front end
« on: May 10, 2015, 06:48:15 am »
Can anyone recommend a front end for mame4all?

I have rasping installed and only mame4all.

I use Mala on my upright windows machine, but want to put basic vertical menu for the cocktail.

Something like the *cough* 60in1 menu would be ideal.

I know mame4all has its own built in, but looking for something different, and graphical.

Actually i did the same thing on the RPI 1 with 256 mb for the heck of it and it works surprisingly well.
I used the diet_pi distro with its minimal x windows.
Plus rayman got hardware acceleration going on his feet on RPI.

The version of the os I originally used was beta according to the Dev.
I built a new one this weekend with the latest version of diet_pi that will run on either RPI 1 or 2 and I plan to share it as soon as I can.
It just takes a while to create an image that doesn't require the same size card I'm currently using (16gb) and up load it to drop box.

Which I'll do once I have it all set up and ready to go.

I understood the first paragraph, then it went south from there ;)

Are you saying you would upload an image file to burn?

I will upload  an RPI image that you can load onto an SD card & boot up your RPI with.
it would be just like putting rasbian or retro pi on an sd card.

Except, what I made is just a simple linux install with attractmode pre-compiled for you and the retropi install script already on it.
you will have to learn attract mode & retropi & figure out your own controller scheme though.
