*UPDATED* pinball kicking ball at start of game *FIXED*
« on: March 30, 2015, 07:55:07 pm »
Family guy pinball.

Sometimes you start a new ball, it kicks a ball out of the trough into the shooter lane...then the auto fire solenoid immediately kicks the ball out zero delay.

there is no issues with the switches that i've found (no ghosting or phantom presses anything)

autofire delay is disabled...fire ball using flippers is disabled.

no jamming in the trough is going on, the ball is settling properly in the shooter lane switch. it just seems to randomly fire the ball out. ("shoot again" balls fire properly after the short delay)

v12 game software

EDIT:

There is a part of the software that will kick a ball out of the shooter lane automatically if the ball goes back down the shooter lane during play.

At the start of the game a hyper sensitive switch would close (playfield vibration) when the ball was kicked out. The computer recognizes the switch closure as the ball gets kicked into the shooter lane, (but before the shooter lane switch closure) causing the computer to think that the switch press was caused by gameplay. When the ball would settle in the shooter lane and the lane switch closes, the ball immediately gets fired out because the game code thinks it "fell" down the shooter lane.

FIX:
adjusted hyper sensitive switch.

ideally, the software should be fixed to ignore switch presses for a few 100 milliseconds while the ball is getting fired into the shooter lane to prevent this type of issue. The software DOES have hypersensitive switch detection, and why the system didn't pick up on it, and disable it, is beyond me.
