Rasp Pi and Scan Line generator

Newbe Question again:

When I get the Pi2 do I need to pick up a HDMI to VGA conveter to use the Scan Line Generator?

yes.
I suggest an active converter an a powered hub.
I had very little luck with passive adapters on the RPI and my SLG didn't work with them.
I'd just get a blank screen or didn't get the scan-lines.
I assume it's because there just wasn't enough signal power coming off that setup.

I have a powered/active adapter the other day so i'll see how that works next week.
