I have a PSIO installed on my PSX.

I sent the board to a guy I use all the time for this kind of thing and he soldered the little board in for me then I set up the SD card for it.
It set up fairly easily, wasn't a big deal but it did involve a bit of learning and file type juggling in order to get everything working properly.

But now its all good, totally worth while doing!

How many GB did you go on the SD card? The GDEMU is limited to 32 GB.

I don't think the PSIO is limited, But I have a 128gb San Disk Extreme in mine which is only 3/4 full.

In other news, I got my PS2 set up with Free Mcboot, OPL, and a 2GB HDD.

I'm going to guess that you meant to say 2TB.

There is a DVD drive replacement for the Game cube. Just added it to the list on the first post.

Ok now it's getting ridiculous.  The gamecube can be softmodded and you can run stuff from the sd card.  Even if that's too cumbersome for you, there's the wii which literally has a gamecube inside and will allow you to run stuff from either a sd card or external hard drive and built in component out.

^ Agreed here.

I'm about 2 weeks out from selling my entire GC set-up, component cable, GBPlayer and all.  I don't see the point of keeping it now that the GBAConsolizer has taken the GBA/GBC workload, and my Wii is a better option for running Gamecube games.

I guess this mod is for people who REALLY love their GC to keep it alive...

I partly agree but to address your points howard:

The GC can indeed be soft mod’d and run games from SD (which is how mines set up atm) but its not 100% compatible some games run badly or not at all.
And its still partly reliant on the disc drive being functional for everything to be 100% compatible.

As for the Wii yeah its better than the GC but the one thing it cant do (to my knowledge at least) is play 8 player Mario Kart over the LAN :D

But lets be fair here the price of the “mega drive” (poor choice of name IMO) is not high so why not?

I don't know man... $150 seems pretty steep to play one game, but if you think it's worth it I guess that's all that matters.

I just wanted to post some thoughts on my knock off GDEMU and GDmenu. I have some 60 games on two 32 GB SD cards. It’s really smooth after you get your games in order. I tried to use GDI images as much as possible, renaming the files was a pain. Had to do some research before releasing that .gdi files were like a .cue sheet and you had to open them in a text editor to rename all the files to match. After I got the hang of it all went smoothly.

I’m looking for some reasonably priced light guns. If I can find one or two at a reasonable prices, I’ll make one more SD card.

Me too! Or a Consolizer ;)  The GBAConsolizer creator has a prototype already built, no word yet on whether he plans on mass producing it.

BennVenn was supposed to be working on a backlight solution for the NGPC. Haven't heard much news lately though.

Btw, check this translation news:

Looking forward to trying this out when I get my Pocket SD.

Got this lil beauty through the post today:

Its a drop in replacement pico for the Dreamcasts PSU.

Came really fast from the ebay seller (uk based) and fits in really simply.

Not had a chance to test it yet as the one draw back is it does not come with a power adapter so waiting on that to arrive from Germany (I favoured a quality one over a Chinese one!)

I will let you all know how it performs but it seems a quality bit of kit and should be cooler than the old one!

He also has a similar unit for Saturn which I may pick up further down the line.

I have 3 dreamcast, all of which were given to me for free. One has a dead power supply.

I got a battery replacement kit that came with a fuse.

Guilty, one of my summer projects was to get my old console setup to where I want it. It all seem innocent, this upgraded AV out for my TG16 is $25, let me grad this GDEMU or everdrive clone it a good price. Well it does add up. I’m not hurting for money at the moment but looking back I have definitely spent more then I  would like on a short time frame.

It’s time for a brake from the spending on this piles of old toys. That’s said, I have a bunch of stuff unposted because I haven’t installed yet.

Remember what the American Pickers say.... the time to buy something unusual is when you see it.  If you don't it might be gone.

I'm frugal 90% of the time so that when someone interesting falls into my lap I can splurge a little.

I have a done a wii with USbloader before but am going to be doing a second one to keep at my mom's house for her growing collections of visiting grand kids. I have a large collections but open to others people experiences. As of now I'm going to follow the how to in the video below. Going to use a large collection of wbfs formate games and a second large collections on Game cube games. I may include other emulators on the SD card but not 100% on that.

In addition, was thinking of add back the ability to play online but wonder it this is a good idea for small children? More concerned that they will be crush right a way so not being worth the effort. Any one have thoughts on the Classic ABS Controller Gamepad ?

I'm wondering if a separate softmod thread is needed.  It seems like on a lot of these consoles, especially the wii, every time I revisit them the preferred methods to softmod and/or load the disc images has changed a little.

I'll just put a little reminder that the wii/wii u are bar none, the best consoles to run emulators on.  They can hook up to modern tvs easily, yet they'll also do 240p natively in the virtual console if you use the multi-out.

Anyway, getting back to your question, I'm not a huge fan of the classic controller because of the analog stick placement and the unusually large buttons, but it's pretty much required for the virtual console, so you'll end up having to get some anyway.

Have people figured out a way to navigate the home screen without a wiimote? That always killed it.

Plug in a classic controller... you can navigate the menu with the analog stick.  It was added when the guitar hero games started getting ported as there wasn't a way to navigate with the wiimote inside the guitar otherwise.

A softmod thread is a good idea. Maybe one per console, I could like to those discounts in the list on the first post. I’ll start one for the Wii later.

Howard, you can get Chinese copies with different designs.

I used this guide for my Wii U: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/

Coldboot Haxchi is the bomb. It requires buying and downloading a DS game from the Virtual Console though...

For 3D printed stuff its always worthwhile asking on the 3D printer FB groups.
Someone will usually print you it for a minimal fee.

Plug in a classic controller... you can navigate the menu with the analog stick.  It was added when the guitar hero games started getting ported as there wasn't a way to navigate with the wiimote inside the guitar otherwise.

Doesn't this still require a Wiimote, though?

Yes, it's a wii.  Everything requires a wiimote unless you want to play gamecube games.

It sucks that you have to use the controller than came with the console?  I explained how to use it without the sensor bar, I don't know how you can expect it to work with other controllers though considering all accessory controllers on the wii have to be plugged into a wiimote... there aren't any controller ports on the system save the gamecube ones.

Yeah, Howard, that sucks.  I was hoping the main menu could either be manipulated by Gamecube controllers or bypassed entirely.  Last I looked into it, details were sketchy and methods were risky.  Kinda kills the idea of using them in a cabinet.

Pretty sure you can set up a modded Wii to boot straight into USB loader GX, which you can control with a GameCube controller, but I haven't tried it.
