Yeah they play pretty well.  There’s also a setting to run the SuperFX games at slightly overclocked speeds, so games like Stunt Race FX plays a bit nicer.

Yoshi’s island plays really smooth too, though Doom plays terrible but I’m sure that is how this port is.

And here is a video of the WIP SA-1 support.

! No longer available

redguy, the brain behind the SuperFX support reported this recently:
Quote from: redguy
I will probably miss several questions. Here's a short summary:

* It's not complete. I'm still trying to fit all the dma stuff plus several other features

* The kirbys work. The fishing game seems to work along with some of the others that don't use dma or interrupts extensively. smrpg works up until the level up screen which uses character conversion dma. I'm working on that now. Most other games are untested and probably broken right now.

*  I don't think msu will fit. Will have to check when more games work.

* The 65816 is mostly implemented, but not well tested. Emulation mode is probably broken. BCD format is missing. All the weird memory addressing modes and native instructions are implemented, though.

Just got my Krizz Super Everdrive yesterday. Loving it so far. It's awesome to be able to play translated roms on a real SNES.

Stone Age Gamer just had a 4th of July sale and I picked up a few more ED carts. They are absolutely amazing little devices. Definitely light years ahead of all the old flash carts and copiers. And as stupid expensive as some classic carts have become, you almost need to have an ED if you want to play more obscure games. They are certainly worth the investment IMO.

For those who own an SD2SNES, there has been some wonderful developments with special chip support being added to it.   SuperFX is now fully functional, and SA-1 is in beta (Super Mario RPG, Kirby Super Star, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Jikkyou Oshaberi Parodius, etc.).

With these additions, the SD2SNES is the definitive flashcart to own for the SNES.

Not that I know of. I'm active on the Krikzz forums and it seems that's the go-to place to get updated info on SD2SNES development.  Even Akari's own blog doesn't have this info (maybe because these features are not being developed by Akari himself).

Nope. This should not effect any other games.  Or are you asking which SA-1 games are incompatible?

I was actually wondering if there will be any games left that the SDSNES can’t handle after the SA-1 chip has been fully emulated? Or will the device be able to play any game? Sorry that didn’t come out very clear.

That’s a bit out of date now, but with SA-1 supported, it cuts this list down considerably. I mean all that’s left are games no one will play anyway (Accept Street Fighter Alpha 2 / Zero 2 I guess, but  Star Ocean which has a playable conversion hack anyway).

Nice! Yeah, I agree that most of the games that are still not supported are ones I wouldn't want to play anyway. I wasn't aware that Star Ocean needed a hack to work. I found patches for the English translation and the SD2SNES hack this weekend and whipped up a working copy. Looks like a fun game. I will have to try to tackle that one once I finish up the games I'm working on now.  :)

Looks like Krikzz has updated the OS for the Everdrive N8 cart to add a whole bunch of new mappers and some new functionality. It's a "release candidate" and not the final version, but it seems like we should see that final one fairly soon if no major bugs are discovered...

Nice.  I had the opportunity to get it twice, but decided I didn't want to go out and find an old rev.1 PSX (never was a fan of the size and look of them).   I really want to someone to create a flash-type solution for the smaller PSOne's...so for now I'll have to suffice with my old mod-chipped unit and burnt discs.

opt2not, I agree on the aesthetics, but I my nostalgia for the unit I had in the 90's makes it worth having.

I preordered the PSIO in September of last year. I got an email on the 4th that it shipped along with a DHL tracking number. Turns out that they just handed the packages over to DHL and it might still be another month to get to the US from Australia. Oh well, I’ve waited a year already. What’s another month? Sigh.  :-[

There are a lot of SD carts piping back up on AliExpress lately. I’m thinking about grabbing a N64 cart. Has anyone tried the ED 64 pluse? I may hold out to Black Friday and get the real deal.

You have some links or search phrases? Aliexpress is a lot harder to search than it used to be.

I have the ed64+    Works great and with unofficial firmware you can add a gui with box art and game shark codes ect.  The only thing is that goofy lopped off cart shell.  I'd order a replacement shell along with the cart so you can make it look good.

They are popping up a lot more for me lately. My suggestion is if you see any SD card cart click to check it out and you'll be shown more.

My PSIO finally showed up last week. Installing the little circuit board that is required for it to work appears to be fairly complicated and requires cutting traces and scraping the coating off the main board to solder along with connecting some wires. Should be fun! LOL.

Sorry I missed that last reply about the pics. It will be awhile before I get to the install. There are pics on the PSIO site for all the different board revisions. And there are also several YT videos like the one you mentioned with detailed installation steps. I will be using all of that stuff when I’m finally ready to do the deed.  :)

Ordered a N64 SD cart from a sit I won’t list be case it arrived with ever N64 game preloaded. It’s clearly an Chines EverDrive clone. Works with no problem and I’m very happy.

Do the EverDrive support on cart saves or do I need to find my save card?

I've found that the ED64 will do on-cart saves if the original game saved that way. However, if the original game used the controller pack, you will still need one of those to save. They are usually around $10-15 on eBay.

That's the one I got last year.  Still works very well.  Yeah, like he said, it'll only save to the cart if it's programmed that way.  That goofy shell they put it in is annoying though.  One of these days I need to order some empty shells and fix that and my Chinese super everdrive.

I tried to save in zelda ocarina of time and it didn’t take. Perhaps the SD card is set to read only, I didn’t set it up so don’t know.

I believe you have to reset the console to get it to save to the SD card. If you just power off you'll lose it.

I believe you have to reset the console to get it to save to the SD card. If you just power off you'll lose it.

Thanks, now I just need to un stick the reset button.

Been keeping the large majority of my large collection of consoles at my Dad's as he has a larger home. It also makes it a little more fun to visit. I'm going to update the setup there. Am keeping my eyes out for a 21'ish inch CRT with component input. There are cheep boxes that do RGB to component for the consoles that don't have component out. The difference from RGB to component is not really distinguishable.

SNES and Genesis EverDrive clones seem to be poping back up AliExpress. I just ordered a SNES one, I wonder if it’s a clone of the older one, that I believe won’t play the FX chip games. I’ll let everyone know when I get it.

It’s called Real Super and was $39 if anyone wants to look for a copy.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.
