That's what I went with as well. There is only a few games worth playing that the super everdrive can't play that the sd2snes can (mega man x2&x3)

Some good games that none of them play
Kirby superstar & dreamland 3?
Super Mario rpg
Super Mario world 2: yoshis island
Starfox
Doom (which has a port on every electronic known to man)

Heh, yeah I was about to post the same list actually.

X2 and 3 are a real loss, but they aren't worth it imho as the original X was the best.  I'll miss Mario RPG as well.  The rest are either "meh" or games that I've never heard of and likely won't play as only a Japanese port is available.

Yeah mario rpg is one of my favorites. But I can live without it on the Everdrive as I plan on acquiring a cart again for the right price. And I have it emulated on all my newer consoles and pc.

Snes games are on the expensive side unfortunately.  I know a couple people mocked me for getting a n64 cart, but just one of the games I wanted cost more than the entire thing.

I think Super Mario RPG hovers between 40 and 70 dollars, which isn't terrible, but those oddball missing games add up.

Hey I paid 120 for my n64 cart. It's gotten over a hundred hours of play.

So they just shipped my Everdrive today from the Ukraine.
So 22 days. Now I have to wait the 10-20 days for shipping.
Looks like I won't be getting it for Christmas.

Nice,
Wish I was working so I could start adding to my ever drive collection. I've now given up 3 jobs that I loved in the past 5 years for my wife career.

Krikzz shipped my stuff around the 23rd of November and it showed up in Massachusetts on the 19th. I thought the package might have been lost in transit, so I was glad to see it surfaced here in the US. Supposedly it's on its way to my post office, but at this rate I'm not sure if it will get here before Christmas. Things seem to be running a lot slower than anticipated.  :(

Normally it only took me 15 days to get the item. Apparently they are so backed up mine didn't get shipped until 2 days after I emailed them asking where it was.

My order took awhile to ship too. I started this process in early November. I see now that my package went from Massachusetts to California for some reason (I'm in Kansas). That's just my luck I suppose. LOL! Any thoughts on what brand of SD cards to use for these?

I haven't had any bad luck with sd cards for any of my Everdrive.  Just stick to a name brand and you should be fine.

On the note of SD card choices, if you're playing the MSU-1 audio hacks on an SD2SNES (from my knowledge the Super Everdrive doesn't support MSU-1 hacks), access time for your SD card matters for minimizing the pause when the music switches.
I recently changed a SD card from a Kingston 16GB to a SanDisk 16GB because I noticed a long pause when the music changed between tracks. This was annoying for games like Zelda or Secret of Mana when you'd go in and out of dungeons. The access speed of the SanDisk is faster and has made the experience a bit more enjoyable.

Also, here's a post I made about getting Secret of Mana working with the MSU-1 hack running with the Variable Width Font and Proper Case hacks: http://the-artcade.blogspot.com/2016/12/secret-of-mana-yearly-play-through.html

I do a chrono trigger yearly playthrough. You know I have actually never played secret of mana. I'm looking forward to finally playing that and earthbound when my super everdrive gets here.
Also never played a link to the past..

Great information! I was actually leaning towards SanDisk. Lots of vendors selling those on EvilBay. They seem pretty reasonable, although sometimes I've heard they are counterfeit. Maybe I should stick to New Egg or Micro Center?

I love Chrono Trigger too.  I should replay it as well!

This is my favourite parts of Secret of Mana while playing during the holidays... Saving Santa!!

Oh Santa, always thinking about Christmas:

I just picked mine up at a local department store, but New Egg should get you what you need.

Micro Center has their brand of SD cards in 16gb for 8 bucks. That seems awfully reasonable. I might have to try that out when my SD2SNES finally shows up. I believe I can take it back if it's laggy since they just sell them in bulk...

They got PNY 16GB at the dollar general by my house for 8 bucks. That's what I used on my other ones.

When you get your SD2SNES, there is a built-in meter in the System Information that can read the access time of your SDcard. It can give you the best readings of each card you try.
For reference, my SanDisk is a class 10, labeled to have 30MB/sec on it. The meter says it has an average access time of .375ms and a max of 4.246ms. Pretty quick for accessing those MSU PCM music tracks.

Thanks for the info guys. We do have Dollar General stores around, so I might check them out if the MC cards don't rate well. It's nice that the SD2SNES has the utility which will test the read speed. One of many cool features.  :)

You need to start with link to the past. Near the top of everyone's SNES best of list. There is also a sequel original for the SNES Satellaview attachment that has been ported by fans. If you google BS Zelda you can find them.

Yeah I've heard of the bs ones.
I'm behind on the loz games. But I own most of them. Just haven't played past the nes ones yet. Didn't really care for the 2nd one.

Start LInk to the past you won't regret it.

Opt2not, I liked your blog post on patches. Are there any other Rom hacks you would recamend? I have a huge back log of JRPG fan translations I'm hopping I'll get to one of these days.

Its near the top of a lot of people's best games of all time on any system. For me its #2 right behind Symphony of the Night. Absolutely LOVE LttP; Link Between Worlds on 3DS kept hitting me in the nostalgia feels.

Oh man there are too many to list! Here are a few that are standouts.

A Link to the Past - DX hack - is a pretty good improvement and fixes a few bugs in the game.
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2234/

Chrono Trigger MSU-1 hack is incredible:
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2546/

Super Metroid Zero Mission, pretty much a remake of the original Metroid:
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/742/

Star Ocean no S-DD1 hack so you can play the translation of this epic j-rpg on a flashcart:
http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/614/

And there's all the translation hacks...you could basically peruse romhacking and find a lot of really good updates.
Note: these are just the patch files, so you'll have to get your own roms. But the readme files have all the install instructions you need.

Enjoy.  8)

You should check out chrono trigger crimson echoes/ flames of eternity. I believe flames is the finished version.
Also chrono trigger: a prophets guile. Which is like and hour long Magus side story.

Seikan Densetsu 3
There is a 3-player hack (this version was originally a 2-player only game) on that site. Also a title screen hack that changes the title to Secret of Mana 2.

Absolutely one of the greatest games of that gen. very ahead of its time for console action-rpg's

Had some time so I decided to try to update the list on the first post a bit. It’s now organize by decade, classifying by when the system was most popular and not by release date. Systems then appear in alphabetical order with competing options in bullet points below each system.

I need to add a lot of what you guys posted and find links for some stuff that does not violate BYOAC rules by pointing how to's with links to rom's, PS2 and the original XBOX particularly. If you guys see anything I missed please feel free to let me know.

You can add psp to the handheld. Hacking those are as simple as downloading a file to a micro SD. Also to make storage easier those memory stick duo adapters allow for 2 micro SD cards to be inserted. (I got 2 64gb cards in mine)

Ds, and 3ds are just flash cards as well.

Original xbox splinter cell mod.

You can find cheap usb to Xbox adapters on the ebays.

I suppose I could have Googled, but that's no fun.

Googled

and added to my long list of JRPGs that I need to get to. I think it's one of 20 games. Sometime I wish I never found Romhacking.net.

I love it. It's breathed a lot of life back into some of the old classics and there are a lot of tasteful updates that definitely improves on certain titles.
Case in point, there are a few great hacks for NES Simon's Quest that fixes a lot of the broken cryptic translations of the dialogue hints, removes the long pause and pop-up of the daylight changes, and even adds a map.

Couple more NES ones (not on romhacking), if you have a Powerpak/Everdrive n8 and like football, check out the updates to Tecmo Super Bowl with up-to-date rosters, new playbooks, and changes to catch calculations:

For us arcade heads that want to run VS Roms on an NES:

Bug fixes are nice. FF1 is another  good example, the bug list for that game is long. Like how the "strong agansted" for the weapons just don't work.

Finally got the super everdrive today, and it only took 46 days!
Of course it did not come with an SD card so I am off to the store now to pick one up.

So I got it fired up and it works great. First test was Super Mario kart. It appeared to work until the race started. Major graphical glitches on the track rendering it basically unplayable. Maybe I didn't set up the dsp files properly.

Next test was super mario world. Plays flawlessly.

I also want to note that the super everdrive works well with my 3rd party controller and 6ft extention cord.
On the Everdrive MD, I could not use an extention cord in the menu.

I didn't think that the super everdrive supported any of the special chip games.

Slightly off topic, is there a good source of NOS cart shells that look like the original cart shells?  I'm not very fond of the euro/japan shell of the super everdrive or my n64 clone cart.

It is supposed to support dsp1-4

Pay for shipping and I will send you a crapper n64 game in a grey shell.
