THAT'S what I thought too. I wish I took a picture of it, it was really a mess, but felt great saving it back to working condition and upgraded.

I guess, but the point of this thread was to list out what's available. It's turned into a discussion of finances and alternatives to the list we're trying to generate here. Seems like there should be a separate thread for these discussions.
Howard_Casto:
Not really. The list is still there, but a list isn't particularly helpful by itself, especially to someone who's just getting into the hobby. I think it's good to talk about recommendations and such so people can get an idea of what each option is like.
On that note, I got around to testing the game genie functionality on the everdrive md clone. It works, but man is it awkward. First to load up the game, then you turn the power off, load/enter your game genie codes, patch the loaded rom and play. If you want to disable the code... you have to reload the game. So the feature only technically works. I could only see it useful on a game like battletoads where you want the extra lives cheat and you aren't going to turn it off because the game is so hard. The device does give you the option of loading codes from a text file, so I guess that makes it a little easier. If you are really into game genie, and the updated version of the OS has better gg support it might be worth it to get the official version. For me though, I'd rather have the professionally made cart shell.
I want to try some converted game gear roms next.

I think it's the same on my everdrive MD. At least I couldn't figure a way to disable. I used it to finally beat lion king.
Howard_Casto:
What's irksome about that is it would be quite simple for krizz to fix the issue. A game genie code only alters a few bytes, so just save those bytes, before patching, to a scratch file. When a code is disabled, those original bytes just have to be written back. When a new game is loaded, destroy the scratch file.
Actually, with some work, disable/enable codes could be made if the original value is known. I really don't want to make my own game genie codes though.
Btw, for those interested, the everdrive md clone I'm talking about is on amazon sold by YiSHDA, which appears to be a generic import seller. I don't necessarily endorse the seller, but I'm noting it because I got mine in 5 days, which is pretty darn good from China. Comes with a sd card as well.
Howard_Casto:
So I just tried some Game Gear games patched to run on the Master System. As expected, they run just fine. I will say this though, due to the limitations of the patches it isn't really worth it. You can see things that are normally clipped out of screen, making the games often look odd.
