U53 is the security key. if it doesn't match the # required for the software on the harddrive it won't run.

ebay is your best bet, you should be able to buy a key and drive combo.

Hi,

I have a GTFore Complete board with a dead HDD....can I download the CHD somewhere?

Luckily I have another drive from a dead GT2005 (not a complete)

So i was thinking I could put the image on that to say upgrading to the 2.09 boot rom....

Once I can get it all working, I am happy to upgrade to 2.09 and a CFcard, but need to get it working first.

Thanks

can I download the CHD somewhere?
Per Rule 5, please do not ask where to download CHDs/ROMs.  :police:

u are a tad confused here
to start with u want to have 2.09 in frist
this way u will not run smack into wrong harddrive installed >2.09< fixed that
nasty nag, second if u do swap ? make sure u get u53 or it is for not
u53 carry's the s/w serial #
so 2005 to 2005 is fine 2005 to complete is a no no without u53
same as what shawn explained to the other nick ebay is as good as it get's
