Hi, I'm building my cabinet for a raspberry pi based unit. The pi, monitor and marquee I'd like to have on one power switch to power down / up the unit. Basically I was thinking of putting a power strip inside the cabinet but wanted a off/on switch mounted externally. I've been searching and haven't found a power strip that has a switch that can be mounted separately? Any idea where I can find what I'm describing? |

Go here and start reading @ IEC Fused Power Inlet with a Lighted Switch. Hope this helps. |

Perfect just what I was looking for. |

Would love to get others thoughts on another idea - one that doesn't require as much wiring. What about buying something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F7C016q-Conserve-Power-Switch/dp/B005MYN3OO/ref=pd_sim_e_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=06FMAKDDMP1ASP3EHE81 Run an extension cord with a female end inside the cabinet and mount this so that only the switch is exposed from the cabinet. What do you think? |

That would work, just not as clean and to unplug you have to open the cabinet. Hard part would be making the switch accessible and looking nice and secured solidly. |
