Single button power on/off for Raspberry Pi Bartop

(1/1)

Turambar:
I'm building a pi based bartop, and I want to have an arcade button power on everything (marquee, monitor, speakers, and pi). I accomplish this on my PC driven arcade cab with a smart strip with the PC in the control socket.

I'm using a mausberry circuit to turn the pi on and off (http://bit.ly/1B9lMpW). Has anyone used one with a smart strip?  Are there any other one button solutions for cutting everything on?

**Pardon me if this has been asked before.  I couldn't find it via search.**

Thanks for sharing that link.

I was going to use either the standard power adaptor and a power strip or a PC power supply to power everything and just run the shutdown command via script from the front end.
The front end is advmenu and I was going to setup the shutdown/reboot scripts as a second emulator.

I've been thinking about using a raspberry pi for a retro console unit and found this for turning it on and off. It's sold as a diy solder kit, so I assume the supplies buttons can be replaced by wires leading to any momentary switch.

And for your project, maybe you can use one of these Eco-strips? I used one for my mame pc. My motherboard constantly feeds power through usb and is not changeable through bios, so I just used a usb to molex adaptor and connected it to my power supply that way.

You could possibly use these two units together with the raspberry pi to have everything turn on and off with a button press, albeit it might be two seperate buttons for the process.
