With the new Model B+ RPi and the new 40-pin IO, someone's designed a 6-bit-per-channel VGA connector.  Downside is there's no room for other connections as all the IO ports are taken up, but obviously USB controllers will still work.

It states that it will support any mode that the HDMI output will support.  I've seen a few people use low-res 15KHz modes over HDMI with a converter, so there's hope yet for that magical RPi solution that can be fed directly into a 15KHz CGA arcade monitor.

This looks kinda neat.

The kickstarter is finished, and items are being shipped.  I'll try to add something to this thread when I get mine.

If you missed out and still want one, they'll be shipping from here:

Any update on this? Thing would be sweet for either arcade monitors or even just a late model CRT TV if you get a good RGB to component adapter.

nitrogen_widget:
the kit is available but i've yet to see anyone who has hooked one up to an arcade monitor yet.
