AFAIK the original control panel is plastic, you might be able to find one on eBay, but you'll most likely have to make a new one.
Dunno for the monitor...

Well candy cabs are collector's pieces, so this is always a pretty tricky question. I'd say, at 250 bucks, leave it. I have never seen a separate control panel for sale (neo 29s aren't that rare but they don't pop up weekly either), and good arcade monitors will cost you a pretty sum as well.

And please forget about putting in an LCD monitor... just don't.

Finally got  it for 60 boxes ;)

I ve found a control panel that I will have to sand and paint.

Where can I find a cheap monitor that will easily fits on it?
How can I make the plastics white again? How can I remove the rust on the metal? How can I repair the plastic cracked? Thank you ;)

Are you kidding me?? You got a Egret 29 for $60?! That's incredible, nice find!

To find another control panel will be tricky, my advice is to keep an eye on yahoo Japan auctions as sometimes rare prices like this goes up for sale. You could also try PMing richy13 at the Arcade Otaku forums as he procures a lot of candy parts.
You can probably replace the metal cp plate, I believe Jasen does repros, and you could try asking him if he can do the Egret 29: https://www.jasenscustoms.com
He's a member here too.

Painting it is the best way to go to get it minty white again.

There are a few restoration threads at AO that you can read through to give you some ideas.
As for the monitor, that's going to be tricky. They're Nanao MS8's, which could be found in Daytona cabs. Might want to ask around on AO or KLOV forums for that.

Good luck with the restore. Those Egret 29's are extremely rare, and a very sought after cab. Especially with the ability to easily rotate the monitor.

Yeah you need to rough-up the plastic so the paint sticks.

I recommend getting a few different grades of sandpaper grit. Start off with a rougher grit to get the plastic ready, then after each coat of paint, sand it lightly after it dries to smooth out the finish with the higher (finer) grit sandpapers. Increasing the fine sandpaper with each coat. You can also opt for a wet-sand technique.

As for paint,  the krylon sprays are a go-to but I would ask someone at the paint shop for advice.

Dude, I'm surprised to hear an Egret 29 was up here in Canada. Where abouts are you from?

I've had luck with coin/metal polish before. Got a CRT front back to original white. It all depends on how deep the damage is. I would try that first.

I'd love to find one of these. Hard to come by here in the south-east US.

Looks good on the lean up.

Its hard to come by anything here in the South east. The only things that I usually find are people that want $2K for a restored machine or $1200 for a 60 in 1 conversion.

Hi everyone,

Step by step i keep going on the restore.

Jason is gonna make a CP.

I need a scan of the little plate above the joystick with the coin entry and P1 P2 button.

If anyone can help.

About the TV,the chassis is Huge, i ve found an old Nanao chassis in my cab. Will it work on my tv Or how can i fix this huge TV chassis into the cab?

I think the is a composite entry on the TV chassis can i plug in HDMI into my computer?

What is the best way to have a crisp picture?

Thank you

It looks like that TV has component inputs ("HD") as well as the (much worse) composite. You could find a graphics card for your computer that outputs to component or get some sort of converter. The first step you should do is making sure the TV will work in your cabinet though. You need to read up on how to remove the chassis from the tube without breaking the TV's neck or electrocuting yourself, then actually removing the chassis so that you can try to fit the tube on the cabinet's rotation mechanism. There are one picture here of an EGRET 29 with the tube in place: http://hard--candy.com/candy?cab=Egret+29

The next hurdle should be to fit the chassis in the cabinet (there should be a shelf in there) and making sure that the cables won't get snagged if you want to be able to use the rotation mechanism. If everything lines up well, you will also have to see if the monitor bezel sits well on top of the tube. Maybe this is the first step to check, as it's something you can do without putting the monitor into the cabinet.

I did a quick ebay search for "hdmi component converter" and there seem to be lots of nice alternatives.

I had a thread on here over 10 years ago, under a different username, but all the pictures are gone from that thread.  Here's a couple pictures of my Egret.  I put it all together about 10 years ago, and it hasn't changed much.

Yeah.  I took the circuit board out of a pair of old Dell speakers and connected it to the existing speakers around the monitor.  There was an existing opening in the front of the control panel for the volume knob, and it seemed to fit there pretty well.  It's not well mounted though...one of those things I've been meaning to fix.   :)

Hey,

Here i come again,

The paint on the monitor side has a lot of scratches and i won't repaint the whole cab.
I decided to go for a custom restore : Shame on me..And i am gonna run hyperspin on it :P

I dont especially like the original artwork, and the artwork cp is in bad shape, this blue strip ont the monitor side was dead and removed, and i dont have P1 and P2 plate artwork.

So yeah, i have decided to have a bit of fun :) Even if i am gonna die in hell.

So please let me know what you think and please give me advices if you can, thanks,
