3D Printed Atari Yoke Triggers?

RubberB:

Thanks so much for your replies. I have a picture of what the triggers look like, so I might be able to produce a CAD drawing based on that. Given that I have the (empty) handle, I can make reference measurements to work out the dimensions of the triggers. BUT I have never used CAD software before! So it might be a bit of a learning curve. I had a look at UPS, but sadly it doesn't look like they have any plans to offer the service in the UK.

My fall back position is to carve the triggers from wood! But that might look a bit rubbish. And I'm concerned that the wood will compress with use such that eventually it doesn't activate the switch.

ChadTower:

Painted flat black nobody would ever notice that a trigger was wood rather than plastic.  You could carve them from a small aluminum block, I think, too.  Aluminum is workable with standard tools if you think about it a bit differently.

PL1:

Welcome aboard, RubberB.   ;D

I bought a single used trigger from Mylstar on KLOV (he runs ArcadeFixIt.com) to avoid paying his NOS prices.   :lol

You might want to post in the "Want to Buy" forum on KLOV.   :dunno

Also there are two types of thumb buttons -- one type uses a bushing, the other doesn't.

Check the part number on the right, outside handle-half -- If it is "040093-01 A" it will work with these non-bushing-style thumb buttons.

The bushing-style buttons look like this. (not sure if they go with different handles  :dunno)

I'm pretty sure sketchup can export to CAD files, and a quick search also brings up BlenderCad (a blender addon.) I can't verify it's usefulness however.

lilshawn:

there was a thread going on about this a while back perhaps you can contact the poster who received the part and query to the status of the parts wearability.
