Jukebok Software and FreeNas

I have finished putting together my jukebox, and need to figure out what software to use.  I will be using a touch screen monitor with a Windows 7 box.  The box will be connect to the home network.  I plan on pull the mp3 from my Network Area storage.  I use the same NAS for iTunes on the personal computer.  I would rather use the NAS as the music source for the jukebox rather then copying over the library and having to maintain multiple repositories.

For those who have a similar setup, is there a particular piece of jukebox software that works well with network drives or file shares on different machine?

If you map the drive to a letter then I would assume any of the jukebox apps would work fine.

on the freenas if you set up the music folder as an SMB share you can then assign the windows workgroup share as a drive letter in the juke software.

Depending on the OS, you basically just load up the network folder  and find your share and right click it. you can then assign the share a drive letter or shortcut assign it something like drive "M"

Then then point your juke software to the drive as if it is a harddrive connected directly to your computer.

note that running this way will increase the memory usage of freenas. if you experience issues with the service being slow and dropping out you may need to add more ram you your freenas box.

I serve music and video to several appliances in my home and had to upgrade to 8gb of ram just to keep up.

i believe it has something to do with the way the system caches the files into memory and then the requesting system doesn't request it (IE loads other files like skipping through music or videos) and it takes the system too long to unload the data.

just load up the freenas web page and monitor the memory usage. if it's maxing out and not freeing it up in time you may need to upgrade. if it goes up and down, that's normal.
