.58 disks and concoles
« on: March 09, 2002, 11:07:58 pm »
I metioned a week os so back that i thougt we should set up a network where we distribute burned CD's. some people thought tomestone was the answer, others thought a BYOAC trading network would be helpful. I have a burned set of 58 roms plus all of the console roms  (11 total disks) that i will ship to someone to get the ball rolling if there is an interest. I would ask that you send me 11 blank (cheap) CD's and when you mail them to me you enclose a moneyorder for the amount of shipping (so i can ship them back) I will copy the disks for you and then you can send them on to someone else. I don't have the time to do a lot of copy's but i will do 2. If there is am interest lets work out the logistics!!!
Todd

BTW anyone notice that the main version of ms. pac-man is a little choppy? speeds up and slows down, the bootleg works great though!!!

I agree w/ sirpoonga...

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...got my tombstones set in less than a week, very efficient for a free service.

I guess I don't see the need to "re-invent the wheel" so to speak...

I got my set from Tombstones as well... Took a few days, and it came right before Christmas!

However, I don't see anything wrong with doing the same as well... Not hurting anyone, but in fact creating more awareness, and helping to draw more people to this "Hobby"!

I think that cd trading would be nice, but about if we just setup servers on our computers so that a close group of us could access eachothers roms and just download them?  Seems like it would be so much easier, except there doesn't seem to be anyone else on this board who is interested in this sort of thing.  There wouldn't be bandwidth problems if it was a small group of us doing it.

It's not a bad idea, but I would fire up the newsreader and check out alt.games.mame.  There's a few people up there who are offering full sets on FTP sites and over some of the PTP services, like Gnutella.

Yes, but I have a hard time with the newsgroups.  There would be a ton of listings with mame roms attached to the messages. Half the time I could click and save the attachment and half the time I couldnt download it.  Also, I think there would be a huge advantage to a small group of us running our own private servers instead of having to rely on some stranger's ftp that 100's of people are trying to get on all at once.
