Edited posts not included in "Unread posts" and "New Replies"

Tried using "Unread posts" and "New Replies" to avoid missing anything, but have noticed what appears to be a bug.

If someone edits a post after I've read the original version, it shows up flagged on the forum page with the icon, but it doesn't show up in "Unread posts" or "New Replies".

Is there a reason for this or is it a bug?
