Help Choosing a PC Monitor
« on: August 31, 2014, 10:39:58 am »
After reading through as many monitor posts as I could handle, I think I've decided I need to stick with a PC monitor (my technical skills are minimal, and a PC monitor seems to be the consensus 'easiest' route), but need help choosing one.

Ideally I'd be able to get a 4:3, but as everyone knows these are only available used in 19" models unless you shell out quite a bit of money.  That leaves me deciding between a used 16:10 or a new 16:9.  My cabinet is 22 inches wide (though I think I could probably get something an inch or so wider in by moving it in on the diagonal... the inside of the cabinet is slightly larger than the framed entry) and 17 inches tall.  I started getting lost on all the technical specs (refresh rate, response time, etc), but found this on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Gateway-FHD2400-Black-Silver-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B000X6XMWY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-2&keywords=16%3A10+monitor+gateway

Will something like that work for me, or should I be looking at something else?  Anything to keep in mind as I search craigslist and ebay?  Any advice between a used 16:10 and one of the new 16:9, or should I just stick with a 19" 4:3?
