It might be worth asking if they will help people to hack them. If you can remove the resistence... and maybe if there should be room to add a weighted washer or something. If you can drill into the bottom mounting plate for 3 screws. two to mount it and one for the cord (and still be able to put to top back on. If they will sell additional bottoms (so you don't have to destroy it to hack it.) Always nice to know that you don't have to rebuy it if the bottom cracks. I didn't think most companies would do it... then talking to act labs not only explained what room was needed to hack thier guns into a more realistic gun... but gave a company that builds life like replicas that you might be able to hack them into. All these might be easy... and no they wont sell many. The emulation/cabinet building population isnt' worth any company putting to much time into. But if they could help hack the existing products, then they can add a new market without any new costs |

While on the subject, I've bought some of that blue neon glow wire they sell in the automotive aisle at Target (and at detail shops) for illuminating the inside of my Tron joysticks. You could easily run a ring of it around the base of any spinner, and have the cool glowy look along with good spinner action. Just a thought. :) |

Just bringing this thread back from the dead! Here's the updated link to this product: http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powermate/ They have a FAQ section for it and a manual. In the manual, they mention gaming specifically. AND IT DOES WORK FOR IT! They have a box to check in its setup menu for gaming. |

I can tell you from years of personal experience with them that they suck as a game control device. I've got one on my cab that I use for power on, and front end navigation. |

I was at the Sciencenter museum in Ithaca, NY - and they have one on a display there. (It controls an exhibit that rotates the sky, and constellations - pretty cool.) I messed with it for a while, and I don't think it would do well as a spinner. Very cool for front end control, or a jukebox however... |
