I enjoyed it. I'm doing my part to pass on the love of classic gaming to my nephews and nieces, who are often upset and then addicted to the hard gameplay, limited retries and concept of high scores. Altered beast, being packed in with the Genesis, is one that many people have played and it's a good one to get people hooked on your channel with. I'll share your channel in my local vintage gaming facebook group.

I'm also a microphone addict. What did you get?

Thanks for posting these overviews. They bring back memories. You might want to edit your link to remove the &t=437s, so we link to the start of the video.

For 30 years, I've been unable to decide if I actually like this game.  Playing the dragon on every level with the Genesis cheat code was fun as hell, though.

I like it, but I liked it a hell of a lot more when I was a kid and a character turning to a monster, in all it's 16bit glory, blew my mind.  Gameplay is pretty basic.... transformations and bosses are cool though.

The slow-down of scrolling motion in that period un-nerved me. Raiden has since grown on me. I guess I will return to Altered Beast and see.....

Returning to this game.....I remember deleting the rom years ago.....I have a better understanding of it. The start is a little rough. It's like Shinobi where you start with no power-ups, though there you at least have throwing darts and move quickly. Once you get the transformation, it picks up. Second boss is super easy.
