| Happ competition joystick base slightly larger than my Ultimate base... |

Hi guys, I ordered some new Happ Competition joysticks to replace my Ultimate joysticks (to go along with my LED ball tops) and much to my dismay when they arrived I discovered that the base of the Competition sticks are ever so slightly larger than my Ultimate bases. I had my CP milled professionally to a very exacting fit for the Ultimate joysticks so I don't really want to attempt to re-router out more wood. So that leaves just sanding down the sides of the bases until i can get them to fit. Does anyone have a recommended method for this? I've been using my files, but its taking forever because the plastic is relatively beefy. Any tips for me? |

maybe a hacksaw, or something hot like a soldering iron (of course do that outdoors eg. in garden and watch out for fumes, and your soldering iron will be a mess after ::)) |

or sand the base by rubbing it firmly on rough concrete ground, you will find it will wear down quickly |

its not really enough "meat" to hacksaw the plastic -- it's about 1/8 of an inch of plastic on all sides. Rubbing on concrete will probably work - has anyone tried it with a belt sander? Or something like that? I don't think the soldering iron thing will work, and if it does it will likely mangle the base and mess up the iron... |

A belt sander sounds like it would work. You can use a hand-held or a table-top. I picked up a "cheap" table top for anther project on sale at Harbor Freight and it works well enough for what it is: http://www.harborfreight.com/4-inch-x-36-inch-belt-6-inch-disc-sander-97181.html |
