Seperate pinball section
« on: August 11, 2014, 03:21:44 pm »
I would really love to see arcade and pinball be seperated because i Cannot Find the pinball builds! Very hard, and only if they use proper words to find them!

Sorry... But the builds are located in the "project anouncement"  forum,  that is generic for all build. If you could have a project announcement in the subforum, or just work with tags it would be much more easy.

The idea of being able to tag/search build thread types using a pull-down menu is interesting.

--Ful cab
--Mini cab
--Bartop
--Micro cab
--Cocktail
--Cockpit
--Driving cab
--Pedestal
--Barstick (bartop without monitor)
--Pincab
--Standalone (CP only)
--Modular
--Skeeball
--CNC
--Other
--CrapMAME   >:D

Not sure how much work it would be for Saint to add that functionality, though.   :dunno

NOT BEFORE TAPATALK GETS WORKING!!!

I looked at Tapatalk and I don't get the love.  Kinda seems like a pointless middleman.  What is the advantage?

The advantage is that it makes it easier to read threads on my phone as opposed to zooming in on it in the web browser .

If getting Tapatalk working was easy, wouldn't it already be fixed?   >:D

Thread-tagging seems like a far easier mod for the site and is less likely to be messed up by a 3rd party app update.

There is a SMF Tagging System mod available here and a thread here.

Indeed, I'd like to see it split up as well..........mame, pins and racing ones perhaps?

Its an interesting idea, However in practice, It would be a hard sell, For example, "Jennifers hot pin" That started as a build thread and was reduced to a less than optimal platform in short order, and little interest was expressed in the pin itself, (Its not working yet, but I did just get all the chrome back in case anyone cares). ;)

Are you advocating tagging or splitting Project Announcements into sub-forums, Spoot?   :dunno

The problem with splitting Project Announcements into build-type sub-forums is that you get less eyes seeing and helping with projects.

Shipping something from the U.S. to Canada for repair/exchange?  Please use USPS to avoid (additional?/excessive?) shipping charges.  PM me if you have any questions.

So we are expecting people to properly tag their post? The same people that can't find the right sub forum and can't put their location in the title of their BST threads?

Riiiiiight.

Unless you browse by "Unread topics" like some of us do...  >:D
That gives you every unread posts from every sub-forum.

Keeping up with all that isn't worth the effort IMHO -- nine sub-forums is more than enough for me.   :dizzy:

Riiiiiight.
Tags are optional.  If someone isn't willing to make the effort, that's their problem.

Also if they post in the wrong subforum and the mods don't notice/move it, tags can make it easier to find.

That brings up the question of whether only OP can tag the thread,  whether other posters can tag it, and whether the tags can be edited after postng.

One other advantage to tagging is that it can make finding examples easier on seemingly unrelated sub-forums.
(i.e. finding posts about pincabs in Woodworking)

Exactly. So there's a great chance I'd get to see a topic in a sub-forum I probably would normally not frequent. That's why I like using Tapatalk with KLOV.

Calling people bored or lazy when you can't even type a complete sentence.  And whine that people need to learn how to read it when they complain.  Classic.
