Based on this review, the board is the optical encoder to PS/2 or USB adapter and the connector with the cut wires is the place to splice in a PS/2 or USB connector. There are 4 wires in a USB cable (pinout here) -- 5v, data-, data+, and ground. (or do you want it connected via PS/2?) Red is probably 5v and one of the black wires is probably ground. (I'll check the photo you just posted to see if I can tell the difference between the black wire connections. ;D) If you have a diode-test function on your multimeter, you can test the LEDs in the optical assemblies (black u-shaped items) by connecting to the 5v (red lead) and ground (black lead) wires. You can see if the IR LEDs are working using a cell phone/digital camera. Orange and brown are probably data- and data+ The fifth wire on your connector is probably a frame ground to bleed off static electricity. If you want to add mouse buttons, the pins on the other connector are Ground, Left Mouse, Middle Mouse, and Right Mouse buttons. Scott EDIT: Non-standard wire colors. :dizzy: |

Found the datasheet for the CY7C63723-PC here. Looks like there are some non-standard wire colors so my earlier post may be off. IC Pin 11 is Vcc. (Operating voltage) IC Pin 6 is ground. IC Pins 12 and 13 are the data lines. Scott EDIT: Attached pinout based on datasheet. |
