How annoying will this movie be?

I enjoy movies, but it is rare when one actually moves me emotionally.  That can mean a lot of different things, but in general, you have to have a fair amount of depth in a character for me to get "involved".  But when you talk about the sheer volume of movies I watch in a year, "rare" can mean 3 or 4 per year..

Particularly with the lack of "suspension of disbelief" in so many movies now, I have a harder time looking at movies in any capacity other than just a couple hours of visual and audial entertainment.  Stimulates the senses, not the emotions.

P.S., for someone so involved in martial arts and maintaining focus, your posts really do wander A LOT.  Not trying to be critical but you took a wrong turn at Albuquerque there and ended up talking about Stephen Segal and people with OCD..  :dizzy:

Well, if you dont mind burning money and supporting horrible directors so that they continue to make more drivel not worth your.. and others time...   :P

In many ways we have similar feelings and traits.   I'm not usually one whom re-watched movies... unless they are quite stellar... and that means they are probably elder classics.  (like Stripes, The Last Starfighter, The 5th Element, ... )   I tend to like to seek out new things, rather than re-experience the same.  Especially those rare gems, such as  "Sleepers"   that often get overlooked.  However, I dont have the resource$ nor time to waste on low quality entertainment...  and try to keep from supporting incompetent's in cushy positions that they clearly dont deserve.

But per your comment about focus...    you should understand that martial arts focus isnt linear.  For example... if your focusing on the guys facial expressions and his hands... you will probably eat his foot.   The best are those whom are aware of every nuance.. at any one moment in time.   You must know your 3d position in space, you weapons reach.  The Ops position. Their possible weapons and reach.  Your foot angle, weight distribution, spinal alignment, hip angle and rotation, bent knees, shoulder and elbow positions, finite arm positions.   Feeling and aware of every breath.. and every small sensation that happens... especially at an interception.

And beyond this... to even learn many of the real truths... that will actually work in reality... you must be a truth seeker.  Most of the arts already have been corrupted and watered down into sport.   As well as corrupt teachings, poor translations, bad reproduction, forgotten and lost knowledge... and intentionally left out Keys.

Figuring this out can be done..  usually if you are good at recognizing relationships and patterns in nature, and or the nature of the things in comparison.   Also everything is about to be compared and linked in some way to something else.  Exploring these depths, can gain you a lot of insight and knowledge.   Stuff thats not going to be found in any normal source of information.

Because of my many passions, hobbies and interests... Ive learned things in so many areas of life,  and have found many relationships between them.   Knowledge in one field, helped me realize and excel in other fields.   A simple example... is from the time period when I devoted all of my extra efforts into meditation and spiritual enlightenment.  The deep breathing and the many healing things within it... Enhanced my speed, development and progression times..  when I started taking Martial arts.   The proper breathing is a key that makes or breaks good technique.  And the Meditation had given me the ability to completely clear my mind of internal chatter.

Thats huge, because that chatter would otherwise distract from the progression and learning absorption speed.   It also lead to me listening to my body better.. to keep it more healthy.   The mechanical experience Id gained,  also help to understand the basic physics and principled of the movements... and their power usages.

I wont deny that I can get a little scattered at times.   But what was posted was in fact all very related in some key manor...
and to make points that I feel should be made... with backing examples and theories of the hows and whys.

dkersten, did you tear up 10 minutes into "Up" ? a tug at the heartstrings when you watch Hachi or Marley and Me?  If so, congrats, you are still human (like me)
ChadTower:

Even the Undertaker sheds a tear in the first segment of Up.

Oh yeah, UP is one of my all time favorites.  And I have watched some movies late at night in "zombie mode" that have touched me, only because in my state of vegetation I overlook the horrible acting, terrible scripts, and lack of character depth and just sink into the story.  But usually those things keep me from really caring about the characters, so it becomes all about the "sight and sound" experience.

X2, I enjoy movies, which is why I go to so many.  I don't go to support anyone, I do it because I like it.  No ulterior motive other than ME.  Tuesday nights is my "daddy daughter date night" and usually I take one of my daughters to a movie.  I alternate weeks with my daughters (I have one for a week, then swap to the other the next week, they don't get along, and I have 50/50 custody with my ex wife).  I also date a lot.  So 1-2 movies a week is one of my forms of entertainment.  This has nothing to do with giving money to Hollywood to produce crappy movies.  And since my primary entertainment with movies comes from the visuals and the sound, seeing it on the big big screen with a really good audio system is the best.  My theater is only a 100" screen with a relatively decent 5.1 system.  Our theaters in town have some really good fully THX certified setups, and we have one that is an 80' high (21:9) screen with leather reclining seating and pretty fantastic audio.  If I catch the movie in the first couple weeks it is out, I know I will end up on one of the premium screens, and it makes it worth it to me.

I read and write books, and when it comes to depth of character and a good story, that is where I get it.  There are maybe 100 movies I have seen in my life that have really moved me, made an impression in more ways than just cool effects or cinematography, and that is out of thousands and thousands.  But mostly movies just aren't about the story or the characters for me.  When one hits that has great characters AND a story, it leaves an impression.
