I've not messed with them myself, but, I hear (no pun intended) that some surface transducers can work pretty well: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10975 Also, I'm not sure where you are in your build, but you might find that just having speakers inside the cabinet are enough. My mini build with a net-book, I just left the speakers connected to the netbook inside the case and called it good. Honestly, you'd never know that the speakers are not exposed. Cheers! |

I'm forgoing conventional speakers and speaker grills in my Bartop project and using one of these connected right into the Little LCD TV I'm using: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10975 It's pretty cool. I mean, all the games I'm using on my project are classic Namco 8-bit sounds, so no real quality is needed. There's more info and some videos in my build thread (link below) Mileage may vary, you could always go with Jim's can/string idea too. |

I actually just ordered the Speakers & Amp to try out. I'm kind of hoping they sound like the Tin can & String as that is mostly how they sounded at the arcade back in the day. p.s. It was a Tuesday. |
