Taxi 2000 - Minipincab
« on: May 26, 2014, 01:48:16 am »
Soooo...so many inspirations i get from melons and superfrog minipincabs that i decided to begin my own minipincab now.
The idea was one of my favorite pinball of the youth - williams taxi - transformed in a  new minipincab design - that means....not like the real big pinballmachine of that -
either a new touch of an checker cab pinball. The images that follows can show you a look from that what i mean.
Some of the  features are a electrical opening controlboard - hided buttons on the front and an integrated plunger with that also too.

The wood...an 12mm MDF was bought and cuttedwith an jigsaw.... but the details need a lot of time. Backglassmonitor is now an 15'' but i think it's better to change it to an 17'' - the playfieldmonitor is 22''.
And here now the whole thing at the first big step forward... :D

A project get then to be a special one, if you must made your own special tools to solve a problem. Today I had to do on the "upper lip" and i must bend a little wood for it. A couple of years before I had the same problem for the seats of an model of an toy-circus - but that's a different story... Ok - the technique I used was likewise of "Thonet" a austrian furniture manufacturer at the art nuveau. They used steam an pressure to bend wood... I took them in a hot water...but look what I''ve done...that is what I used for them:

Then i took the wood for a little more than an hour in very hot water and used a jigsaw to make the tool.

I have a question to superfrog or melon... Did you thought about to use BAM or a Ledwiz with your Minipinball???? And if...what is your experience with it? Do you have enough spaces for them?

I didn't use Future piball but I was planed to use it.
Ps3 eye toy or even Kinect is Easy to use, but in my design it didn't fit well.

Lookin good. The only thing I wished I would have done different on my cab is too groove out the cab sides where the metal edge on the play field is mostly hidden. That way you can remove it from the back instead of removing it from the top and having to take all that stuff apart to get to the wiring

@jaharr01 I will do both....to open from the top (like a car) and from the back  ;) - better to get to the pc-part . I have so much ideas but I will do it step by step. At this moment it can be go in two ways. Every false step can destroy the good imagine of the project or it goes to be an epic one.... I do my best! Let us see....

@Generic Eric    ;D oooh Yeeeesss...of course, crazy taxi and a dreamcast section will be a big point on my to do list ;)
@jaharr01 thank you... I do my best..the wooden part is not really my best part of my profession - I am a technician and repair and proof electronic circuits ;) xray is a special part of it but this all can't help me on this project - I only will modify a few buttons/transform little pocket lamps into buttons...but you will see it by the next steps - at first the wooden part must find an end. There's so much to do.... At the playfield monitor fixation and the front and so on...  ;D
