BRAG - Home use only Prototype Doctor Who Pinball
« on: December 06, 2003, 02:59:14 am »
Ok, this isn't mine, or it would be a better brag. But my best friend just bought a home use only Doctor Who pinball machine from the guy who bought it brand new.

The guy had a power surge in his house in 1997, and the game hadn't worked since. So Dave bought it for $300.

I fixed it within minutes of cracking it open (blown varistor shorting across the ac line input filter, and a juiced battery).

The playfield is a bit dirty, but it should clean up to be a nice 9+ condition machine. Dave gets to clean and wax it tommorrow (I fixed it for him, so he can clean it himself).

The best part is that it is one of the 100 prototype units with the factory moving Dalek head installed.

$300? Grumble, grumble, grumble...  ;)

I'm semi-seriously shopping for a pinball machine, and a Dr. Who is near the top of the "wish list" (especially at 300!)

Now if you had told me it was a Medieval Madness for $300, you would of totally runined my day!

Seriously, your friend got a great deal, and I can only hope to get such a great bargain in my Pinball quest...

Playfield has been cleaned, polished, and waxed. I could take some pictures, but it looks just like every other Doctor Who pinball around. There is no damage or variation to speak of (they all have Dalek heads, but only the first 100 machines had moving ones).

Bentley Bear is currently keeping the Dalek company (he rotates around from game to game in the gameroom).
