Burnt’s Vewlix-ish build
« on: March 15, 2023, 02:02:51 pm »
Been wanting to build a cab for years and kept getting distracted but have finally decided it’s time to dive in. I’ve been going back and forth on design and still haven’t nailed anything down but it will be modeled mainly off of the Viewlix cab.

PC
 - Ryzen 5 1700
 - Gtx 1080
 - 6GB ram
 - Beelink SER 5 Pro w/ 5600h

Monitor
 - Acer 32” IPS 1080P
 - 28” Ultra Wide Stretched LCD (dynamic marquee)

Control Panel
 - #2 Ultimarc Servostik
 - #16 Goldleaf RGB buttons w/ black inserts
 - Ultimarc Trackball (Translucent RGB)
 - Ultimarc Spinner
 - I-PAC Ultimate I/O

Audio
 - Infinity Ref 4” speakers
 - Pyle mini amp
 - Pioneer 6.5” Components
 - Fosi mini amp

Software
 - Launchbox/Big Box
 - LEDBlinky

Graphics
 - This is will be a Star Wars themed cab and have some ideas that I need to pass onto a gfx artist but this part is the least of my worries

This is currently where I’m at in my design stage. Hoping to get started on the cab in the next couple of weeks after I finalize the design.

Not sure if I’m missing anything important, but if I am please offer that up and any recommendations you guys might have. I have a Rasp Pi4 I’ve messed around with and have Retropie installed but want my cab to be able to run more advanced games.

Started receiving parts this week and picked up some supplies for the cab. Also made some changes to my initial planned list of parts.

Worked on making the base/box for the cab. Still have to apply wood filler and sand but made some good progress

Cut rear of the box to line up with my side cut outs

Inside of the box. Still have to install the shelf for the pc. Also plan to cut some holes in the base for ventilation and put some caster wheels on the bottom to make moving around a little easier. Still working out how I want to enclose the rear and make a door for access.

Cut the sides of the cab which will attach toward the rear of the box and house the monitor/speakers/dynamic marquee.

Mock-up of the side attached

List of parts that arrived this week:

32” Acer Monitor
Wanted to use my old Ryzen/Gtx1080 pc but I think the mother board died so I said the hell with it and bought a Beelink Ser5 with Ryzen 5600h
Crucial 1tb SSD
Pioneer 6.5” Component speakers
Fosi mini-amp
USB 3.0 external ports (will be installed in the front of the control panel)
Stream Deck
2 140mm usb fans (in the plain brown box)
Smart power strip

Some really good progress today and excited to finally get this project rolling. I’ve already got Launchbox downloaded and purchased the Bigbox forever license. Have started downloading my roms and currently have a decent list going including MAME set 252. Will probably start messing around with adding my rooms to Big Box tomorrow.

Nothing like a Stream Deck for that authentic arcade experience!  ; )  Heheheh.  Cool idea though, what do you plan to do with it?
