wiring coin mech, using laptop

Ok, so my mame cab is running courtesy of a laptop. Not my first choice, but it was just collecting dust and has a dual core processor.

I'm trying to wire a coin acceptor. It's a standard coin acceptor that requires an12v power supply, and most tutorials say to use the PSU. In this instance, what can I use to power this device?

You may need to use a wall wart -- not sure about the current draw spec, though.   

Don't forget to use a zener diode to protect your encoder.

Does the wall wart you linked to allow me yo wire in a 12v wire, or do I need to take apart an ac adapter wire and connect it that way?

I'm assuming the diode just connects between the ground and the wire that connects to the ipac4.

The easy way is to just cut off the circular power connector and connect the 12v and ground wires it to the coin mech.

There are plenty of related threads with information and wiring diagrams that show how to wire the mech, including the zener diode -- search is your friend.

P.S. Would you (or anyone else with a coin acceptor) mind posting a few good photos of your coin mech that I can use for the wiki -- it's easier than getting permission to use copyrighted photos from a website.
