Touch screen games
« on: April 04, 2014, 10:49:07 am »
Ok, this may not be the right forum for this question, sorry if it's not.
I have a touchscreen jukebox that I would like to put some games on. Thinking maybe poker or slots type games. (But open to any games.)
I found some cheap ones at Walmart but Im not sure if they will work with touchscreens. The specs on the games there include keyboard and mouse.
My jukebox wont normally have a keyboard or mouse connected, so touchscreen compatible games are a must.
I didn't buy the games at walmart, because if they must have a keyboard I don't need them.
Thanks.

I don't think any harm is done by asking.

Try one of those games.  Generally that is what's suggested.  Does your touch screen show in windows as a pointing device?

Mike Boss has a similar project.

they probably just mention a keyboard since you'd likely enter in your name for high scores.

and since your touchscreen just emulates a mouse anyways, i'd say you would be good to go.

I have a business, and had to sunset some touchscreen POS terminals because of Windows XP support being discontinued.  I'd love to repurpose them into a touch gaming console.  Are there any good games/front ends that I can use so I can throw them in my man cave and make them fun.  The lest it costs the better.

If you start another thread with some reference to the type of Monitor you are referring to, we'd be able to help you better.  Include the make/model of monitor along with whether or not you intend running them on xp or if you are willing to change to another OS.  It would also be helpful if you knew if there was driver support for vista, w7 or w8, if you have already gone down that road.

old man, check out pop cap games, tons of them are designed for iphone/droid so keyboards arent a factor. However, Im not sure how you can exit the game without a keyboard
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Thanks for the input guys.
I bought one of those slot games cd at Walmart last night and it works real good on touchscreen.
It also does not need the cd inserted to play (a definite plus!)
I installed it on the jukebox I am building for my sister (Gayles Jukebox, link in my signature.)
It is IGT Slots. It has 8 slot games on it, and the main was is "Kitty Glitter", which is great because my sister loves cats.

Cost of the cd was $9.99 which aint too bad.

Here are a couple of pics, just in case any of you guys want to find it:

Those top 4 on the case are casino classics.  Where did you get your touchscreen?

Ok, bought another game at Walmart for 9.99. This is a jewel drop game called "Jewel Quest".
This game works on the touchscreen, but I wont be able to use it, because it requires creating a user name, which requires a keyboard. It will not let you continue the game without first entering in at least one user name.
The names are saved and can be used later, but if someone else wants to start from the beginning they must create a new user name, which again requires a keyboard.
The mouse cursor (looks like a spear head) is always visible too.
This game also has a sort of journey like (puzzles, choosing right paths, etc) before you get to the actual jewel drop game.
Not very desirable for touch only screens, IMHO.
If you are looking for touch screen compatible games, I suggest you do not waste your money on this one.
