Gun holster automated
« on: March 03, 2014, 04:41:08 pm »
Had trouble sleeping last night thinking about arcade guns

I want a "holster" to pop out of eatch side of the cab.
Something like this:

Or maybee in the front on each side of the coin door?  ???

Just an idea i had, need to finish rebulding the control panel failure i made first. http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,128828.40.html

Im thinking it could be mounted on drawer sliders and open/close by some sort of electric motor.
Woud be extra cool if it woud open when a shooter game is run and close when you pick the gun up. etc etc....

Love to hear you thoughts and ideas 8)

Where's the gun when you're not using it?

Oh. Your Sketchup makes it look like just the holster would be popping in and out. Don't see a cutout for the gun.

I suppose it could be done, but it seems like a lot of work, programming, wiring and expense. However, lest I be accused of destroying your dreams, I say go for it! Shine on, you crazy diamond!

Yep that will be it. I think Paul got sidetracked on this project with his new home theater project.
Hopefully he will continue the work on his automated cab soon. (hint hint).

Please keep us informed on your automated gun holster project, sounds very interesting.

I would have loved to have mine pop out the side but due to the rotating control panels, there was no room. I mounted a box on each side of the cabinet and the guns rise up using a servo which is activated using DaOld Man's Control Choose plugin.

Been thinking about it Ken. You know how much I love redoing things. I'm still not that happy with how the panels are locked in place and of course there are so many things that have to happen first before the rotation starts or things will break.
