All the info you need is on gamesx.com...specifically check this link out:

http://www.gamesx.com/avpinouts/genesisav.htm

You will be able to hook up to a either a composite monitor (tv), or an an RGB/SCART  monitor (or arcade standard resolution monitor).  To hookup to a computer monitor you will need to use an upscanner (preferably  upscanning the RGB signal rather than the composite signal).

Happy hacking.

It doesn't look like the genisis supports s-video out, so there is no Y and C.  If you are hooking to an rgb monitor you don't need those anyway.

The RGB output of the genisis/2 will be at 15.7khz...a VGA monitor will not accept this (unless you have something like an old amiga monitor).  VGA starts at 31.5khz to display a 640x480 signal.  So what you would need is an upscanner inbetween those two connections that take the RGB signal and upscans it to 31.5khz.  The XRGB-2 upscanner is a good example (but not cheap at around $250).

I don't believe you need to hookup the 5vdc (in fact I'd think the 5vdc output on the genisis connector is to power external devices).  So if you were hooking straight up to an arcade monitor (which will accept a 15.7khz signla), then all you need is the R/G/B Gnd and Composite Sync lines (you may also need to put some caps in-line with the r/g/b inputs to brighten it up a bit...see the Game Consoles faq for more info on that.

I'm not sure what a jamma fingerboard has to do with you wanting to hookup a gensis to a monitor? Are you saying you have an arcade cabinet?  You seem to be leaving out a lot of details here...

So I guessed that I needed one (Fingerboard) now I think I don't so what do I need for my Mega Drive 2 (Genesis 2) to a arcade monitor?

Yeah, you don't need to worry about the jamma fingerboard.  If you are hooking up your genisis to a normal arcade monitor (standard res), then just hookup the red/green/blue/ground and sync lines to the monitor inputs.  The sync line will go to the horizontal input.  You may need to put 220uf capacitors in line with the red/green/blue lines to the monitor to brighten up the picture (try first without it and see).

Yes that monitor will work.  I have a hanatrex 25" polo in my arcade cabinet.  Most people round off the sync rate and just say 15khz, but its the same thing.
