If it works with USB encoders and other game pads, I'm sold.

how did you do it?? can you share the configuration files?

can someone verify if usb encoders work with ouya ??

My brother and I have successfully gotten OUYAs to work with xin-mo and arduino mega 2560 boards. It took quite a bit of tinkering with KeyLayout files in order to get everything working correctly but we now have a fully functional arcade machine ran by the OUYA. Here are a couple links with a little more info:

If you can load from Google play,  try rock runners

So I fired up the OUYA after a LONG LONG period of non use.
Wanted to update it and "trick it out" a little more.
I was able to easily sideload Netflix using a tutorial I found online.  :applaud: :applaud: :applaud:
Super stoked about that, because I needed to have Netflix in my guestroom (where the OUYA lives for now).
I also installed Kodi following this guide : http://kodi.wiki/view/OUYA

I know have three builds of XBMC on the OUYA. The official store version, Kodi, and a "night build" I think it is called.
My buddy who bought the OUYA locally got it from a seller who sells them with everything installed and ready to go.
He had sent me a tutorial to follow and I did.

One thing I noticed that I think is kinda odd.
Under my MAKE section in the OUYA one build of XBMC remains.
The tab shows as XMBC, when I open it XBMC reads in the top left.
The bottom of the screen has a ticker (for lack of a better term) that talks about KODI.

In my PLAY section I have my offical build of XBMC and I show the tab for KODI.
When I open KODI I get the screen I used to get when I would launch my night build.
XBMC + XBMC HUB, then the app opens and does show KODI in the top left, however every app, add-on I
had installed for my night build is showing up. (I hope I'm making sense)

I just find this kind of odd, perhaps certain parts of the install write to the same area ?
I guess what I'm getting at, is it seems my night build of XBMC is showing up as KODI.

Should I uninstall them all and do a fresh install.
In reality I only need one build of XBMC, I just want the best build.
Then I can work to get all the required add-on's and bells and whistles.

ANOTHER EDIT - Duhhhhh Me!
So I went and checked the versions of XBMC that I was running.
Sure enough the one with the KODI tab is indeed KODI 14.0 .
Why it went under the PLAY tab vs. the MAKE tab (when the tutorial said MAKE) I do not know.
How all prior add-ons and goodies were enabled, I also don't know.

The other is the official build, XBMC 12.4 OUYA and under the MAKE tab I have XBMC ALPHA 12.

I'm guessing I'm better to just remove the other builds ?

*** I wanna go pick up a 32GB Micro SD card for the OUYA today, I'm kinda stoked to play around with this ! ***

Picked up my 32GB Micro SD card today. I can now getting around to adding more games/ROM sets.
I think I mistook the micro USB port for a Micro SD port. Bought a card...obviously can't use it. DUH!!!!
I'll have to go thru my multiple thumb drives kicking around ,move some data around so I can use the 32 I have with the OUYA.

I also got a chance to mess around a little more with the OUYA and the KODI build. Oddly when it installed KODI every add-on I had prior used was already enabled. One thing that was super cool was XBMC HUB makes it really easy to upgrade and trick this sucker out. 15 minutes worth of tutorials on YouTube and I was set. Really everything I needed was in the XBMC menu. I know have Phoenix installed and a  few other cool lil add-on's.

I still say the $70 I spent for the OUYA, along with $25 in additional storage (I'm an idiot...why did I think this thing had Micro USB?), and lastly $25 (or so) for some other controllers still equal a cool console worth the money. I saw another neat little video on YouTube where someone was using a wired N64 controller. Not sure if I should go for the bootleg USB ones for NES + SNES to give me a better retro gaming feel.

Broke the OUYA out of storage and did a lil retro gaming
the other day. Good times !
Wanted to bump an old thread and ask two questions.
I picked up a few Sony PS3 wireless USB game pads.
I picked up 3, tested 1 (the itent was to have 4 controllers
hooked up at one time...that however I did not finish
the testing for!) I did hook up one and it worked well as a
2nd player controller. Any risk using a powered hub with the OUYA?
This way I can test all 3 at the one time.
Second question, anyone ever try the XBOX 360 Mad Catz SFIV
controller with OUYA ? I picked up two and I wanted to ask before trying.

Thanks

I guess I'm the "OTHER" guy with an OUYA. LOL (I still haven't met a better XBMC/Kodi player for the money... that also emulates up to dreamcast games.)

Answer: You can use a USB hub (Powered or otherwise) to connect more controllers. (but if you have wireless controllers you don't need a hub. OUYA can connect up to 8 )
I have not myself tried the Fighting stick but Xbox 360 controllers work fine. (I have tried both usb and wireless with the PC receiver)

Try 8 player Bombsquad.
Note: you can also use Wii controllers wirelessly

Too bad anything above 14.2 is no longer supported.  Just unhooked mine this weekend.  I mean it can be  done, but its a lot of effing around. :(http://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Install_CyanogenMod_on_OUYA

Yeah that does suck...but I'm still using it and it still works...so I will cross that bridge when I can't watch my shows.

N64 works ok, it uses Mupen64Plus.
The few games I've tried worked fine (Mario 64), there are some that need a plugin or settings tweaks...and there are still a few that don't work at all. OUYA N64 Compatible game list

Now that Razer has bought OUYA they are talking about moving all the content to Forge TV under the name Cortex. We shall see but the CEO of Razer mentioned a "deep" discount for OUYA users for the Forge TV. If it ever actually happens I might go that route.

Hard to beat the Shield though. Time will tell.

MANNNNNNNN....... the OUYA gets a ton-o-hate ! LOL
My controllers are the USB version, not Bluetooth...so I don't know that I could pair 8 of these.
They are the Ghost Recon USB controller.

I was under the impression that the powered USB hub was smarter/safer.

I'll give the fight stick a go on the weekend. I'll also dig out the hub and try that.
I'm looking to pick up a PS3 Bluetooth controller used on the cheap.

I have 3 rock candy wireless ps3 controllers with the dongles plugged into an unpowered hub and they have worked great since i've had the OUYA.

never tried an xbox 360 controller.

almost all the games I play are now on steam.
Just waiting for bombsquad to get ported.

but I still use OUYA for xbmc and emulation plus some duck game with the kids.
Not sure about the forge.
not going to buy another android box without netflix and hulu.

If you're still using OUYA (or android or pc for that matter) check out Rage Runner: http://store.steampowered.com/app/279520/

I'm probably biased since I contributed some original music to the game but it's actually pretty fun!
