PC and CRT power switch in 1 happ pushbutton?

--- Quote from: MTPPC on February 21, 2014, 11:16:25 pm ---I've got the grounds for 2 tvs and the pc all tied together on one side of an arcade button microswitch and the signal wires to all 3 components on the other. I wouldn't have believed this was possible, but with the advice of shakenbake, I tried it and it works fine. The one thing I notice is that you want to press the button for over half a second when turning on and off.

Combining the control circuits of 2 separate devices?
I wouldn't advise that. Maybe it will work for some but not in all cases and with all equipment.
For the low cost of a proper relay and the simplicity of wiring, why not just do it.
If that sounds too complicated, then why not just wire your power button to the TV and have that plugged into the control outlet and plug your pc into one of the switched outlets and set your pc up for resume after power loss.
Or
Wire a relay off of the PC power supply so that the contact closes after the PC powers up and turns on the TV.
There's multiple ways.

I'd like to hear what RandyT thinks about using a ClassX button with 2 True-Leaf Pro switches, longer mounting screws and an insulator (strip of milk jug?) between the switches for this application.
Looks like the upper switch could be mounted in the normal position (shown below) with the insulator and lower switch underneath.
The lower switch upper leaf could be bent until the insulator just touches the lower leaf of the upper switch.
Then the lower switch lower leaf can be bent as needed.
When the plunger is pushed, the upper switch leaves, insulator, and lower switch leaves bend until both switches close.

Or you could use a button like this: (Not a Happ, but close)

Never mind, these switches have a NO NC contacts, and you will need two NO. (Plus the link is not the switch I linked to)
Search the site though, they may have what you need.

Sounds like this would work fine, so long as all of the mechanics of it work out. This type of stacked arrangement with leaf switches is fairly common.

I like the idea of stacked leaf switches. You can use a small nylon spacer between them in order to link them for activation.
