Just wondering if we can make a list of network games basically so we know what games to get
Emulators, PC Games etc
Add to list the games you know of please which will work over LAN
I know of

-m2 emulator games eg Daytona USA, Sega Rally etc
-Sega Rally 2 PC Version
-Virtua Racing Mame (Sailorsat cabmame version)

That would be awesome.

Could we keep the ones that are actually tested and confirmed working separate?

This was one of my goals with the PC games list, but it fizzled out because I have zero time for testing.
(got 2 identical PCs set up for my twin build, got around 60 games installed on both, just no time to experiment)

Daytona USA and Sega Rally for PC are linkable, but over serial cable.
I've been wanting to know if that still works on Win7 PCs.  I wouldn't add it until tested.

The Supermodel devs have a version that is linkable, but I don't think it is available anywhere since it was never in the SVN.
Here's hoping it makes it into the next official release.

Sorry I got nothing solid for you.  :)

Yeah I know of Supermodel but last I heard no progress had been made since last year and it is not being worked on at the moment.Last update I saw from Nik said he would try do some more this year though. I'll test some out and update first post with working games only

I haven't tested any of these but they're worth looking into

in any case it seems a lot of the earlier NFS games on PC support LAN:
The Need for Speed Special Edition
Need for Speed II Special Edition
Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit
Need for Speed: High Stakes/Road Challenge
Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed
Need for Speed: Underground (with LAN Patch)
Need for Speed: Underground 2 (with LAN Patch)
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) (with LAN Patch)

Supposedly everything after the 2005 MW is online only, as is Hot Pursuit 2. The non-SE versions of the original 2 NFS supposedly didn't support it either.

Race Driver Grid does support LAN but Grid 2 does not


I don't know if the Dolphin emulator has LAN functionality but the only GC Racer that has LAN support is Mario Kart Double Dash (there are no Wii games that support LAN, Nintendo made it online only) All 3 of the TriForce racers: Mario Kart GP and GP2 as well as F-Zero AX should have LAN capabilities if the Dolphin Emulator supports it.

Looking at some screenshots it looks like it'd be pretty fun. Kind of reminds me of Rush 2049. Any idea if it support FFB / if you can completely control it from a cab or if you need a keyboard or mouse for menu navigation?

Awesome... I've never played Blur but it looks super fun, one of the few modern arcade-style racers.

Though, I suppose old game with wheel support don't necessarily mean they'll work with a modern wheel.

Initial D 6AA (2 player) via teknoparrot. I haven't tried anything besides setting one cab to A1 and the other to A2, but they work great together. I'll probably make 2 sets of links for my 4 machines since I think the game is limited to 2p.

It's just in the TP readme. Add/change this to/in ShellData/ShellData.ini:

I apologize if this is a dumb question but are there any tutorial videos out there on how to set up lan network for racing games (if you have 2 PCs side by side together) in MAME and Sega Model 2?  Thanks

I don't know about MAME, and it's not a video, but the model 2 setup is explained in the sticky of this forum: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,131527.0.html . Check the attachment on the first post. You basically just set up networking so each PC knows the next PC's IP on your network -- they form a "ring" if you will.

MAME only networks with about 3 or 4 racing games, IIRC. Sega system32 and model1 stuff. So outrunners, F1 Super Lap, and Virtua Racing work. You need the game roms, and the m1comm.zip rom. Then you set up the IP's in mame.ini kinda the same way you would for model 2, each pointing to the next, the last pointing to the first. Not sure how many players F1lap allows, but VR is 8ppl, and i think orunners is only 2 (but two seats each, two screens, so you need to set numscreens 2 in mame.ini if you only want one on each monitor or only have one monitor.)

Once the above IP's are set right, you run each game and go into the service menu to set the links up, changing things like car numbers and master/slave setting, depending on the game in question. The games often need restarting once that's done, and you may need to hard crash to do that, believe it or not. FYI you can't use them single player without changing the options back in the service menu or just removing the NVRAM files and starting over. Or just setting up a second copy of MAME.

There's a thread about Model 1 networking by Sailorsat on here if you get stuck.

I'd be keen to know what other games can be networked, if anyone knows?

Off the top of my head, additionally to the ones you've mentioned, you can also link Rad Rally, Wing War and Virtua Formula. You can do a full 8 player set-up in F1 Super Lap and Outrunners, not sure about the others, but I imagine they are all 8p as well. You can also create a separate NVRAM folder in your MAME folder for the multiplayer stuff (and a separate CFG folder if you vary between wheels and joypads). If you launch MAME from a batch file just specify which folder to use in the batch file itself i.e. 'start /b mame64.exe orunners -w -cfg_directory cfg2 -nvram_directory nvram2'  And then it saves you having to have multiple version of MAME on your PC.

* Model2 had stable support for daytona, sega rally, & manx tt superbike for a long time. Other m2 such as Indy 500 are less stable. And finally, some games, like Super GT 24h don't work at all (I wished really hard that it did!).
* PPSSPP supports some ad-hoc multiplayer, like Need for Speed, etc. but not others (Ridge Racer / Ridge Racer 2 -- again, I wish!)
* Model3 had some preliminary support back in the day, but that was not really released and the dev who was working on it disappeared for a while. It's been a community effort to get model3 games linkable and so there has been good progress in the past 6 months due to some very dedicated and skilled contributors. The big payoffs will be if/when we can get the "big guys" like Daytona 2 & SCUD Race working. Sega Rally 2 and Le Mans would be great as well...and of course all the other games on m3 :).

It requires the seperate "network" exe and you have to create a server and game in that window first... Or is there a way to do it via command line or autohotkey?

Sorry, I don't know of a way to start RalliSport Challenge with a command line.

I can confirm that Taito's Valve Limit R can be played 2 player via network.  Got it setup tonight.  Misery loves company......   ;)

What you're writing makes zero sense to me. Read the 'Read me' file that comes with the networkable build of supermodel, it explains fairly comprehensively in step-by-step detail what you need to do to get the Supermodel network running.

It's currently not possible to run the networked version of Supermodel full speed. You need to disable multi-threading to get it working, so it means your PC is running the emulator on just one CPU core. Hopefully it'll get fixed at some point.

That's all it was. Check your TP version. I had to use an older version to get it to work. It broke in some future version. I don't have the version #s on me to check. That could be your issue.

Webcams replaced, problem solved.
22 LAN arcade games are perfectly playable now.

Model 2
Wired is better, as an example I've never been able to make Daytona 3 work using Wi-Fi.

OutRun 2006
Nothing to do with most of the versions.

Model 2 emulation networking is problematic, as described in the other thread. Daytona works but is increasingly glitchy, both in time and as you go to higher version of windows. Sega rally might work, Indy 500 is dicky, Sega Touring Car Championship kinda works with 2-player as long as each cab can go into and then exit test menu simultaneously (the settings can be pre-configured, you just have to go into and exit test menu, so just bind a button for test.) I don't think any other games actually work.

Sailorsat has a tool in the m2emu networking thread called m2emu lagfix or whatever, and it might help with the first three games named above. Don't expect miracles though. She's still working on the problem on and off, so we might see a proper fix at some point. The problem is that the network and code are not yet completely understood, and she's still figuring out how it all works and how best to run it. The way she describes it though, it's perhaps not a surprise that the tiny glitches in wifi are responsible for screwing things up further. The work  is pretty hardcore :)

Outrun 2006 works mostly fine for me over LAN. As in, two cabs can see each other, and get into game really easily, but once you start driving the position of the other car can get a bit glitchy - you see the other player driving through walls and speeding ahead of you when they're behind, etc. Your own car is fine, so you just drive to that. It does mean the player who crosses the line first can sometimes come second, but normally it's not that bad. Once Teknoparrot gets Lindbergh networking going though, that will be worth looking into :)

Thank you buttersoft. I got Outrun 2006 to work in LAN.

I had a question about getting VR working in MAME LAN.  I set both PCs to global inputs =1. I then created a bat file for each computer.

Master PC bat file:
mame64.exe vr -w -cfg_directory cfg -nvram_directory nvram1 -comm_localport 15111 -comm_remoteport 15112 -comm_localhost 0.0.0.0 -comm_remotehost 127.0.0.1

Slave PC bat:
mame64.exe vr -w -cfg_directory cfg2 -nvram_directory nvram2 -comm_localport 15112 -comm_remoteport 15111 -comm_localhost 0.0.0.0 -comm_remotehost 127.0.0.1

Then I go into each MAME test menu and set Master PC to master and red car and then Slave PC to Slave and blue car.

I successfully pinged each PC to one another.  When I launch both bat files the Master starts but the slave PC just sits then stuck in "checking network."

Does it matter what you set the localport to? I just chose the ones recommended in the video tutorial.

Any help is much appreciated.

Got this working last week for MAME (virtua racing, outrunners, f1lap, etc.).  Thanks to Boomslang. 

After making sure my firewall was temporarily disabled and successfully pinged each computer's IP address to one another, I created a bat file for each PC.

My slave PC:
mame64.exe vr -w -nvram_directory nvram1 -localport 15109 -remoteport 15108 -localhost 192.168.1.3 -remotehost 192.168.1.2

My master PC:
mame64.exe vr -nvram_directory nvram1 -localport 15108 -remoteport 15109 -localhost 192.168.1.2 -remotehost 192.168.1.3

I've been able to run Daytona USA, Sega Rally, Manx TT and Motor Raid just fine in a 2 player wireless LAN (I say just fine, the car of the opposing player looks super-glitchy in Sega Rally but the game plays just fine).

How are people getting Wacky Races to work multiplayer? What loader are you using (how did you set it up) and with what settings? I set my cab ids to 1 & 2 in the test menu yet they don't see each other when I try and do the network test in the test menu. I've tried launching with JConfig's game.exe and using TP => Launcher.exe.

Edit: Boomslang helped me out with this one. Needed to use JConfig (I used v1.5) and set the exe's compatibility mode to XP SP2. Then, the network setup in the test menu worked.

Can anyone shed some light on how to get Mario Kart gp dx to work over local multiplayer? I have 2 machines but can't seem to link them together. I changed the cabinet ID to 2 on one of the machine, but still can't start multiplayer. I'm using v.1.10 and teknoparrot 1.64. Any help would be appreciated.

Guys i finally figured it out! I was originally using my ISP modem which was conflicting with both machines. I switched to a router which uses the default gateway 192.168.1.1. I made sure both machines can see each other on network. The other issue was i did not have a web cam installed. So installed ManyCam sofware on both machines and that seem to work fine. I enabled nam cam on test menu and everything is good to go.

Hey guys,

I have done a ton of testing for this and have found the following games work best with my g27 based arcade:

1. Daytona USA Championship (using Booms ffb and -1000 (3% anti deadzone in x360ce settings)
2. Split/Second - excellent arcade game with tons of explosions and good controls/ffb
3. Wreckfest - modern-day destruction durby (Dirt Showdown is a close second to this, but is more about racing and less about wrecks)
4. Mario Kart GP DX 1.10 - drifting
5. Grid - tons of racing options and easy to setup with good ffb and graphics/physics
6. NFS Hot pursuit - can get keys for steam very cheap on kinguin site
7. Sega Racing Challenge - currently only works with Teknoparrot v1.42 in 4 player LAN, but IMO is the best version of it since the network is less buggy.  Requires Boom's NVIDIA fix and ffb
8. Initial D 7 - I like this one best because it supports the 6speed manual transmission - only 2 player though
9. WMMT5 - works good for a high - rubber banding game and has 6 speed manual control
10. Dirt 4 - has some very fun multiplayer maps, good physics/graphics/ffb
11. Grid 2 - oh I have a love/hate relationship with this game.. the graphics are sweet and it is cheap on kinguin but oh how the physics suck so bad for some cars.  It is a good one though.
12. Gravel - EXCELLENT arcade rally game with good controls, easy setup, good amount of rubber banding, ffb, graphics.  Highly recommend this one. (SR3 is very inferior to this IMO)
13. Gas Guzzlers Extreme - Mario Kart with guns and powerups.  Lots of adjustments like rubberbanding in networking.  Main downside is the menus look like crap.

Can you be more specific with this game title?  I did just a quick search but couldn't find the exact game.

And do you mean that Teknoparrot versions after 1.42 broke that game?

He means sega racing classic

It's just Daytona USA with hd resolution support etc

I'm still struggling to get Wacky Races to work in LAN. Both PCs are Win10 with direct play setup and Jconfig but when i'm test menu I just can't get both PCs to link up.  If someone who has got it to work would be willing to list step by step instructions, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Interesting thread. These linking features in arcade machines is more so an overlooked feature. I would try some pc based loaders but I unfortunately don't have a second computer atm (and most likely don't plan on so).

Racing Games I would love see working with LAN in MAME one day:
-Cruis'n USA, World & Exotica
-San Francisco Rush games
-Ridge Racer games
-World Rally2
Cruis'n USA and World run on Midway V-Unit and that has some strange communication hardware (two DB25 ports using a parallel type connection). Off Road Challenge also runs on this hardware too.
Cruis'n Exotica runs on Midway Zeus II. From what I know, the main cpu has some IRQ to enable a firewire connection for cabinet linking. The Grid also runs on this hardware.
San Franciso Rush actually is linkable in Mame but requires a complicated setup involving two separate Mame directories and a VPN. The same can be said to all the Seattle and Vegas games because it uses the same linking hardware, an ethernet chip.
Ridge Racer games, where to even begin. The linking chip, Namco Custom C139/C422, is used in a lot of Namco hardware. If that were understood, all the Namco games using that custom would be linkable.
World Rally 2 actually outputs both players/screens on a single pcb similar to Sega System Multi 32. Because it doesn't support more than two players, a link feature doesn't exist.

I would look more into this stuff but I need to reorganize my local Mame directory so I can efficiently submit requests on github.

You can get Indy 500 to link in m2emu but it requires an additional program, m2lagfix, and it's very finicky even with the program. The network code used in m2emu is quite outdated and only works with a few games without the program. I hope Sailorsat can improve on either m2lagfix or the m2emu network board emulation.

Since I use high quality Ethernet hub and cables it works good with 2 players.
No more use of m2lagfix, just have to go to TEST menu (both machines) and quit at the exact same time to sync perfectly.
It is now very rare to lose connection!

You have to hex edit your IP's (up to 4) in the executable and use it for Master & Slave.
This way I got 4 players working (3 Win10 & 1 Win7).

I have never had any luck with Split/Second and G27 on PC. If you pay attention to the accelerator while turning the wheel, you will notice that the speed will drop gradually the more you turn. Think of it like having only 1 analogue stick for movements of the vehicle. Up = accelerate, Down = brake, left = wheel left, right = wheel right. Impossible to turn at full speed. If only i could make x360ce work with this game im sure that would fix it.

Can you explain how you got Super Bikes 2 working in LAN mode? I'm still struggling. I set one PC to machine #1 and the other to machine #2 in Teknoparrot UI. I think the problem is that I currently can't get into test menu in SB2. I used to be able to. I'm sure I need to tweak something there too. You used to be able to access the service menu by hitting keys like 8 or 9 or 0 or F2 (I can't remember ... one of those). But now they won't work. Setting the service key in Teknoparrot UI doesn't work either with the current TP version.

Drift wouldn't link up for me. SuperCars linked up but oddly on machine #2 player 1 car was invisible. It's super weird. On machine #1 both cars show up and it works great. Anyone else experiencing this?

Update: Since the test menu was fixed recently in TP for SuperBikes 2 I was able to get LAN/Networking to work. Still oddly enough SB2 has the same weird graphical bug that SuperCars has while linked up, where on just one PC, one of the players essentially disappears once the race starts. I'm going to test on a 3rd PC tonight, just out of curiosity.

Also, regarding your comment above about getting Wacky Racing working in LAN. How do you exactly hex the IP address? Sorry, i'm still kind of a newbie. Not sure how to do that. And are you able to get Wacky Racing working in LAN via Teknoparrot or do you still have to use jconfig? Thanks

Thanks to SailorSat and totoplay for the help and clarification when running more than 2 PCs for MAME Network play.

Thanks to totoplay, I finally got Wacky Races working in 4 player LAN/Network, which is awesome.

I'm still getting weird bugs with F&F supercars and SuperBikes 2 where you can only see both players moving on one PC but on the other PC, one of the player gets stuck and doesn't move. It's very strange. I must have a crappy dump since I appear to be the only one experiencing this bug. I don't think totoplay or Sto0z are experiencing the same issue when playing those in LAN.

My dream LAN/Network game has to be the Cruis'n games. Those were my favorite racing games growing up. My bro and I would play each other all the time at the local arcade (love hearing the "Check Point" ;D). Would be epic if someone could get Cruis'n USA/World working on MAME with LAN support. One day i'm sure someone will figure it out.

Long long description of how these games communicate from a pending MAME pull request.

"A two way link (Cruis'n USA, Radikal Bikers and Surf Planet) is self explanatory. Connect the RS-232 cable between both pcbs and set the correct network settings on both pcbs. A >2 way link (Speed Up, Cruis'n World, Off Road Challenge, Cruis'n Exotica and The Grid) requires the connected pcbs network IDs in numerical order and a pcb to have a network ID set to 1/Master. The reasoning behind this is each network ID can only communicate with the network ID numerically next to one another due to the serial port split into two; e.g. ID 1/Master controls ID 2, ID 2 is controlled by ID 1 but controls ID 3, ID 3 controlled by ID 2 but controls ID 4, and so on in a large serial circuit. Disconnecting anything connected to ID 1/Master will unlink all the slave pcbs while disconnecting a slave ID pcb will unlink any pcbs that aren't connected to ID 1/Master.

I just discovered a lot of Konami games use that same procedure. The difference between the two is Konami has their rs232 connection altered to make use of a pin jack/LANC connector and wires most likely because of how compact they are.

My dream LAN/Network game has to be the Cruis'n games. Those were my favorite racing games growing up. My bro and I would play each other all the time at the local arcade (love hearing the "Check Point" ;D). Would be epic if someone could get Cruis'n USA/World working on MAME with LAN support. One day i'm sure someone will figure it out.

Hm... Sadly it is not that simple, I tinkered around with a cruis'n'usa board a long time ago and never got it working. some said the pal might be bad, or the wiring was "wrong".
Software side wasn't better either, I could get them "startet" in link mode, but they would not communicate at all.

The main control is from the main cpu TMS320C31's built in serial port (split into two) in addition to two pals, u111 and u38. It depends on the main cpu's address at 990000 seemingly controlled by the COMINT at pal u111. Pal u38 identifies what address 990000 is doing. It's possible the original Cruis'n USA u38 pal, A-19669 doesn't have the code which explains why the pcb won't communicate with that pal installed. Risugami has a lot to say about how these pcbs communicate and only had success by decreasing the main cpu's clock speed because the current clock speed is "too fast" for both machines to read the changes (most likely emulation bugs). Without any sync at the CPU level, it's not going to link. I am desperately trying to get Risugami to release his linking code for MAME so someone experienced or I can take a stab at what is going on. Does anyone know that person to see if he has other forum accounts or a discord because I can't find him anywhere.

It's a lot of sophisticated info for something simple (hence why I prefer the shared ram method used in a lot of Sega and Namco games).

EDIT: Do the Namco games sync up their v-syncs? I have been told V-Unit games sync up their v-syncs too but either that info isn't true or it's a much different method (which may explain the problems I have with linking Cruis'n USAs on two bad LCD monitors). In my situation, the slave machine will flicker a bit every few seconds and cut after a screen transition for a few seconds. The explanation behind this is those LCDs installed may think the signal/sync isn't acceptable so the monitor temporarily loses its signal as a result.

It's weird. Lately as i've been messing around a lot more with LAN/Networking games, i've been experiencing this internet error randomly "windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings." It's a ---smurfette--- to fix and I'm not sure what's causing it. Maybe I need to strengthen my malware protections? Just curious if anyone else who uses LAN often experiences this error. May be completely unrelated. Thanks

Anyone have a list of MAME driving (or all types I guess) games that work with multiplayer across LAN / multiple PCs?

EDIT: On the problem I first posted, I tested with 0.212 (current latest) and it worked, so for some reason my mame 0.200b installation doesn't wanna work with network multiplayer.  Afaik this worked as far back as 0.166 so no idea what the issue is, I might just update to 0.212 as long as all my configs and nvrams work with it.

Also you need to make sure the ring is closed - so setting the any remotehost to 127.0.0.1 (or omiting) won't work for sure.
Ah and make sure the games are using the same settings - one machine on "normal" vs. one on "grand prix" mode won't work either.

Thanks.  I didn't test much with Outrunner, mostly Virtua Racing which I tested a million different ways until finally trying the latest MAME and getting it to work.

I don't know exactly how old 0.200 is, I was thinking maybe a year and a half?  I've never updated MAME though, I mean I don't know how to do it properly to preserve all settings, Service Menu settings, all that stuff.  I've never looked into it even.  I guess you just keep the ini files and the cfg and nvram directories?

The only long term MAME install I have is a very old one with Hyperspin that once I had working the way I wanted with the controller I wanted, I never messed with it again.  I've been copying it and/or running it from a USB drive for many years.

F1 Super Lap will network in MAME as well. Same system boards as Outrunners, i think? Probably different settings in the service menu, of course, but nothing to complicated or i wouldn't have it running :)

No more use of m2lagfix, just have to go to TEST menu (both machines) and quit at the exact same time to sync perfectly.

You have to hex edit your IP's (up to 4) in the executable and use it for Master & Slave.
This way I got 4 players working (3 Win10 & 1 Win7).

-Is Doytona 3 on there? And does anyone remember how to network it?

-Is it really possible to network Sega Rally Revo? Or only to shoehorn the tracks into SR3? Revo looks to have superior terrain deformation, but the return-to-centre control system is bizarre anyway.

-Does anyone have a guide to setting up Mario Kart mulitplayer?

-Is Outrun 2 networkable on the latest releases on TP? It was broken for a while...

-Does anyone know which of these games are v-sync locked? I run a setup on old Arcade CRTs, and if a game is v-sync locked then i can't run it at 800x600@50i at full speed. I know WMMT is locked, BG4 is, and ID6 is so ID7 probably is too. How about ID8? Does that run on the same machine? How about Grid or SnoCross?

EDIT: browsing this thread and thought i'd better update - you can use RivaTuner Statistics Server to both disable V-sync and then framelimit (to 60fps) OR2SPSDX, WMMT5, ID6 (and so probably ID7 and ID8). The only failure i've had so far is BG4 Tuned, which is actually still pretty playable at 50fps because it's more simulation-like.

- Daytona 3 <=> Daytona Championship USA (Google "daytona championship lan")

- No network with Sega Rally Revo (Split Screen) - Use tracks with Sega Rally 3 (most of them are compatible)

- Google "Mario Kart DX Arcade GP 1.10, including banapassport save and online play, QR codes and LAN versus play !"

I would argue that Revo doesn't count for "twin converted cabs" but i suppose it's covered in the "etc." I have SR3 running the extras tracks, it's great. But Revo has better physics, save that the actual control system itself is utter garbage. Shame, really.

This is just a guess, but what about your gateway?  Judging by the pic you posted the game is expecting a gateway of 255.255.255.0   If your network is setup differently you'll have to change it.

You could install Wireshark on your PC and then sniff the traffic to see what the application is trying to do. The application should be sending data out sourced with your local IP address 192.168.1.X to the destination IP. Your gateway IP is only necessary if the destination IP is not on the same subnet as your local machine. So if your local computer is 192.168.1.10 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0, then anything from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 is considered local traffic and won't need the gateway. Unless that application is designed to work over the Internet, it shouldn't care about your gateway.

Has anyone got Grid working on 192.168.1.x IP address? TP compatibility say 192.168.0.x but looking at one of the ini files in the game it has base address of 192.168.1

I need it working multiplayer on 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2

Did it the other day on 192.168.1.100/101

I haven't had a single issue on those IPs for Grid, OR2, SR3, WMMT5, ID5 or ID6 (which last probably means ID7 and ID8 would work too). At least as regards connectivity.

EDIT: ok, on reading more it looks like i'm wrong and Ford Racing *isn't* on Europa-R. I could have sworn i read it was, but there we are. Sorry for jerking you around, jayc001

The Europa-R games like Grid and Sega Rally are the easiest TeknoParrot games work with - which is why i was surprised with your comments on ForD Racing. If Grid fails i would really see if it's your IoT installs.

Oh, and it never hurts to have the complete Visual C++ packs either - https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/

And TBH Teknoparrot itself breaks games between versions. I can't get SR3 to open at all on 1.0.0.558 or whatever we're up to now...

Gah! Multi-game multi-player rigs are difficult. I tried Grid on 192.168.0.1 and still no joy. I probably need to look at Gameloader RH but seeing how TP is pretty easy to use I haven't tried it yet but apparently it's better for Ford Racing so maybe the same for Grid.

I have a couple of questions about the games in the graphic...

-Is Doytona 3 on there? And does anyone remember how to network it?

Are you still struggling with Daytona 3? I had to enable webcams/splitcam. I saw you post in another thread I think a summary of what you need to do...pretty sure that was my original post being quoted so just DM me if you are stuck. I had written one of the controller launchers way back when.

Meanwhile, to add relevance to this thread:

Not sure if it has been posted, I posted on Youtube 11 years ago that Over Rev can be played on LAN on M2, but it requires a particular setup on the game assignments.

Getting back with this it's been 12 years since I did it.

I just got trying this and  it's hit and miss. Let me make a video, and post it on my channel. It will bee raw, but it will show that it works. The quality will be better too.

I went and installed FFB wheels on my cabs, and now Grid doesn't LAN anymore. The game runs fine, but the cabs just don't link. I didn't change anything else, so i don't understand why.

EDIT: it was me, i must have buggered something. And the other problems i was having were related to the joystick encoder i was using on the same cab. Nothing wrong with the FFB plugin :)

Below is the default, but you need to change them to where your game is. That was my mistake.  you need to have cameras enabled and webcams installed on both units, then it will link f you have everything else right.

So it seems my network issues with SRG, Ford Racing and Grid were down to the switch I was using. I read the manual for SRG and noticed it used multicast for network comms. I had been using an old Tenda router loaded with TomatoWRT as a switch for these cabs and I was aware this didn't pass multicast packets so swapped it out. Instantly SRG worked multiplayer so I tried the others and bingo all good on them too.

No, i haven't tried it. But the model 2 games are what they are right now. I have to use that service menu method on a couple of games, STCC among them.

Ok so here is my current list of multi player link able racing games I have on my twin cabinet, this was my project once I caught Covid and was self isolating, its taken me 3-4 hours per day for a month to have all these games running reliably in Big Box on a twin linked cabinet without the use of a keyboard and mouse, it was important to be really user friendly for my Children and Nephews. For M2 STCC and OverRev, I seem to get a twin link link going pretty well. For each one i have a test menu key bound to a button. For STCC you exit the test menu on the slave cabinet half a second before the master. For OverRev the other way. TBH i do the same for Daytona, if the link seems wonky. I could never get Sailorsat's patch to work. There's a thread on here about having one cab launch games on both PC's, and that setup might be modified to automate this process, i guess - http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,164636.0.html

Demul does network, technically, but only between two instances on the same PC. Flycast has just started supporting Naomi 2, however, and it also supports network (for both Naomi 1 and Naomi 2). Children and Nephews, yes :) I have 2x G25's, which have fewer buttons on the wheel. So commands to exit game and test menu and anything else that can interrupt play are all over on the shifter unit where they won't be bumped.

Ok I will also add STCC and Overrev. I had Sailorsats patch working once and then it all fell over so gave up on that a long time ago. I could revisit it if I catch the next strain of Covid...

Manx TT plays ok, I prefer GP mode not TT mode but regardless of what version or cabinet setting I use I cant get rid of the lady saying stupid things during the races.

Demul and Flycast, yes I just read your other post, very interesting.

I have g27's and have removed the Logitech wheels and installed the Nardi Battlegear 2 wheels with a 3d printed adapter, these were originally on the cabinet as they are 330mm just like a real car, the Logitechs seem too dinky and the 6 red buttons look silly on the cabinet. Once Ive finally finished this project I will upload some pics.

Hi

Does anybody know where Teknoparrot saves test menu changes for each game or for all games?
I've checked it is not saving in inside the folder game nor the emulator folder. It is very strange.
I'm trying this with Outrun2. If I tried my ID car, the change will always remain there even If I delete the whole emulator and game folder, and then copy it again.
It seems it is saving these changes in some windows folder.

The naming conventions in there are weird though. For example i think SBUU is ID6. And OR2 is similar to that, being a Sega game as well. And it doesn't save ID game cards in there, IIRC (was that what you meant?)

Any multicab Gurus try tanktanktank on Teknoparrot yet?  It lets you set Cabinet ID via in-game test menu and that seems to enable local network search but comes up fail for me....

Got most TP games up and running. Ford Racing I get prompt: JVSmuFR.dll needs to be removed do to another emulator in use. Restarted pc and started TP fresh and still get the prompt. Do I need to remove that from my System32 folder?  Don't want to screw up the rest of my build. Thanks for your help.

TP balks at files from other JVS emulators like Jconfig and others. I would rename that file first, and possibly move it. Everything else should still work as before.

When you get things setup, i would look into a tool like macrium reflect. Driving cabs can represent years of work on the configs and setups, and having an image backup lets you just flash back to a new drive or earlier version, if things go south. You can also explore the images and just pull working files out, if needed.

To crib some nitpicks from a post of mine further above:

Outrunners will work on one PC with two screens (P1/P2) or over LAN (P1/P3).

IDZero 2.11 links fine with the updated version of minime but still using segatools V4. IDZ 2.3 also works with TP, or with Segatools, but for the latter you need to use IP's 192.168.158.a (for seat A1) and b (for seat A2), where a is a low number less than b. E.g. 192.168.158.10/11 work. TBH i don't enjoy LAN much on the Initial D games - the road is too narrow, and all you do is shove your nose up the rear end of the person in front and stay there. But i fricking love them in time trial/story modes in singleplayer.

For M2 STCC and OverRev, I seem to get a twin link link going pretty well. I'm not leaving them in attract mode though, just loading them and playing. I get at least four or five games out of STCC and don't notice any issues. For each one i have a test menu key bound to a button. For STCC you exit the test menu on the slave cabinet half a second before the master. For OverRev the other way. TBH i do the same for Daytona, if the link seems wonky. I could never get Sailorsat's lua patch to work. I could never Wave Runner get it to link, originally, but i haven't tried the above method. There's a thread on here about having one cab launch games on both PC's, and that setup might be modified to automate this process, i guess - http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,164636.0.html

While i agree that everything Raw Thrills has ever touched is utter rubbish, you should list that stuff anyway :)

TP will link Wangan 5, 5R 5DX+, 6, and 6R and I'm not sure about 3 (the last being with patreon key only like Galeco Championship Tuning Race still is)

Need For Speed GT (Global VR): LAN works fine

No luck so far with NFS Underground (Global VR) and NFS Carbon (Global VR), may be someone?

How did you get Need for Speed GR (Global VR) to work in general? I followed the readme for both Rev B (1.0.1) and Rev C (1.1.0) downloads but both tries fail as soon as the race starts and either crash or say there is a corrupt registry. Even with changing C:\GvrRoot\NFS\UniverShell2.exe to compatibility Windows XP SP2. I can start the game, push "x" to get passed the wheel calibration, hit "s" to start, hit "s" to select the cars, tracks, etc. but then at 3 seconds left before the race it gives that error or crashes on Windows 10. Any ideas?

I'm trying to configure Outrunners on LAN on a twin cab setup. It works fine on LAN but it displays 2 screens on 1 cab and 2 on the other. (So basically a 4 player). Is there a way to "eliminate" the second screen on each cab and only show the first one to get a basic 2 player LAN setup? I read that in older versions of MAME, there was a DIP switch in the ROM to set it to "single screen", but this no longer exist.
I tried to set numscreens to 2 in mame.ini but than I need to enable windowed mode because on fullscreen mode it crashes (I use bgfx as video driver). Sadly there is no "borderless" fullscreen in mame afaik, so windowed mode is not a good solution either.
Any input?

I think you can ignore that resolution line and put your own as i'm running on a real old CRT monitor. But you're saying that method is not going to work for you? In which case you might try loading both windows and then automating the process of selecting the correct screen and making it borderless fullscreen. Autohotkey will do this, using something like the below ahk textfile snippets, compiled into an exe if you like:

I'm using the ini file, and the first four lines of the above AHK script to load the game, then select the particular instance i want to bring to the top (screen 0 vs screen 1, here). You may need to run the game windowed (in two windows, here) and then use the full AHK script to select which window you want to bring to the front and then maximise into borderless fullscreen. Setting the resolution in MAME ini to be your desired screen res is probably still a good idea.

If you haven't used autohotkey before, it looks daunting. But it's pretty easy to learn and you can find lots of examples to copy or crib from. Running everything on the lists above really requires you to learn something like this :) I'm also probably not going to be able to troubleshoot this for you. I use the second part of that script to grab several other windowed games (each of which is at the time already in front/selected) and then maximise to borderless fullscreen.

With the game running, press the TAB key, select video options and screen 0. Do the same on the other PC.

Is anyone able to run Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 via Teknoparrot linked in a LAN? I don't need bananapass support or anything, just a local 2 player match on both of my cabs would be fine. Can this be done?

Someone should add Thrill Drive 3 to the list of working multiplayer network games. The way you network this is the same as networking other PS2 games with PCSX2's network adapter (be sure to enter test mode and change the network ID for other instances/machines).

This game is also known for having rather bad netcode to the point other player cars tend to jump at random (at least on actual Thrill Drive 3 cabs). It may or may not happen in emulation (if not, then this may be the best way to play multiplayer Thrill Drive 3).

Decided to attach some old screenshots of me running two instances of PCSX2 on one PC connected via a bridged TAP adapter.

Short answer: Arcade because there was never a PS2 port to begin with.

Long answer: Thrill Drive 3, running on Konami Python 2, uses a stock SCPH-50000 MB/NH PS2 and official network adapter. Because PCSX2 has LAN support using the network adapter and Python 2 USB support was advancing well, I asked myself if it was possible to link up Thrill Drive 3 (let alone a hacked version) in PCSX2 the same way you'd link other PS2 games with ethernet LAN multiplayer. Unsurprisingly, it worked.

Medium answer: There's a special fork of PCSX2 that works with Konami Python 1/2, Konami Bemani Python games, and the Namco System 246 games, which were based off PlayStation 2 hardware. If you Google "pcsx2 python2 fork" the very first link should take you to somewhere to download it.

Sega Dirt Showdown works with TeknoParrot.
I edited the ini files, adding my IP adresses and giving a different ID for each cabinet. It worked at first try so I do not know whether the IP adresses were really necessary.
I am a bit disappointed with the game using my G29 wheel. FFB effects are mainly rumble there is not a strong feeling of driving.
