Updated: PC wheel support now availble for official Sega Lindbergh Hardware 4 $

SegaOutrun:
I keep finding more cool stuff while googling for something else. This is for the guys who like to use actual arcade systems.

It looks like a very promising programmer has hacked an official Sega Lindbergh (linux) PC to add multibooting, remove security checks, custom resolutions and official xbox controller support. Next on his todo list is add PC wheel support. Given what he has done so far, it doesnt seem too farfetched.

He is currently selling his creations, so i doubt we will ever see a free release. But if does get PC wheel support in, that would mean getting an all-in-one systems that includes Initial D 4/5, Outrun 2, R-tuned, hummer extreme and sega race tv for less than the price of one complete official arcade sitdown.

To recap and to avoid the obvious questions.
-this will only run on official sega lindbergh arcade systems
-the programmer has stated that he is not interest in getting this running on a regular linux pc (he stated in a few years once its obsolete but, we all know thats not going to happen)
-Incase the first two ^ were not clear, no this will not run on your PC or linux, and will not be anytime soon

UPDATED 2/11/14: The hacker has now implemented wheel support for the Lindbergh support. Please see vid in post below. Still only available for sale tho.

what will it run on then?

Howard_Casto:
A lindberg arcade rig, which is essentially a specific model Linux pc.

It's kind of like how somebody took advantage of the taito type x loaders and make a multi-game rig out of a single type x pc.

Yeah, after reading through that linked thread I get it now. Quite fascinating indeed. Well I guess this is one alternative option for playing arcade perfect OutRun 2 SP with a PC FFB wheel, at least until the hack project gets completed.  :applaud:

I wish there was a way they could somehow get it running off a standard Windows environment. I couldn't justify paying a grand for another big PC tower that would sit next to my existing PC. Not to mention having to unplug and re-plug all the driving controllers from one box to another.

SegaOutrun:
Well that took less time time than I thought it would. Looks like he was able to add PC steering input to the Lindbergh System. Now I can add this to the list of thing I wish I could afford.
