X-Arcade Tankstick- inside space?

I think I will end up with a BARTOP. This is a project for Ex GF son, he  grew up with me and loves the OLD games, I have a standup i built in the mid 90's (lucids design) with help from here. He comes over when he can (rarely) and plays it non stop. I figured a 2500K intel and a such .. since he is a bit of a run around (step fathers house, mothers house, etc) so just the stick you plugged into a TV would have been nice. But with some good engineering ( and there are loads of awesome projects here) and LCD's being light, maybe I will build him a bartop.  Im a bit stuck as I want 7 button 2 player setup.. and you need a tiny bit of width to get a good 2 player 7 button fighter layout..which comprises weight and size..  Im sure I will figure it out, and if I build post it here.

Glue a Raspberry pi to the back of it and run an HDMI cable to the TV?

You may also want to consider a "barstick" design.

Rablack97 made the Vision Box.

CoryBee made one here.

I had thought of a PI or Ouya (love my Ouya) but I would like to do the most I can (dreamcast/3Do etc) I have a drive made up with hyperspin and "everything" its a 3TB.. but that part is not important.. basicly i need some power to run the higher end emu's.. so a PI or Ouya is out.  Really want to do a 2500K (mild OC'ing) even have some all in one watercooling I might run in it to keep it quiet and cool (h60 where $38 with rebates awhile ago so got 4 of them). its just he age old, size, functionality question the smaller the better of course. The bartop sticks are the idea I was going for.. The X-Arcade just seemed like the quickest route, but it seems size excludes it. so Building my own is an option. (those pictured are very nice). But if I am building I need to consider a full bartop then as its only a little more work and I do have a ton of 19 LCD's so its just some woodworking, and design. But the desgn is the tricky part.. but again, there are many good examples here.. I was just looking at the short easy route.
