Anyone running Mario Kart 64 having issues with 4-player speeds?

No I didn't. If kaneda was being douchey over there and made no ammends for it, then my advice is to still not get cynical and rude about it since I always try not to let others' negativity get me down. Also, I really wouldn't want a newbie to the forum seeing something like this with no context and thinking we're like this all the time. Plus it looks like he's apologized for it several times here if not over there.
Having said that, I know it can be really hard to not jump in and get sarcastic when someone's been snippy and then wants everyone to help him. So while I'd still advise against it, I can usually look the other way in those cases. I think it was mainly the impression this thread gave of this forum up until my post that kind of bugged me, you know?

The kicker is when they think everything including the front-end is MAME.
It's usually people claiming they have a problem with MAME when the problem is with their front end.
I've also seen people who think everything is running on a program called Hyperspin.

Fair enough. I think that, at least subconsciously, people on the forum feel a little slighted when someone buys their way into the club so to speak, brags about it, and then asks what to us seem like silly questions because they haven't really taken the time to learn stuff. I think the reason that bugs me a bit is because I suck at woodworking. I've worked, I've practiced, and while I have improved a bit, I know I'm never gonna achieve the kind of awesomeness that goes on around here on a regular basis. So while I'm not gonna buy pre-fab stuff myself mainly due to the insane prices, I get why people do it.

You know, I want to address this because in real life I'm a very positive person, but with this particular poster I've unfortunately made a few negative comments and reactions and I've been vocal about them rather than hold my tongue like I usually do.

I believe you - I can't recall you ever really unloading on anyone, but I can recall a generally helpful and positive attitude coming from your posts. Again, I guess I just got bugged by the fact that everyone kind of piled on a lot grief to a post just asking a fairly simple question, and the vibe that gives to the forum.
--- Quote from: yotsuya on February 03, 2014, 09:53:14 am ---To be quite frank, I am just tired of seeing this project. I'm tired of hearing about it, I'm tired of threads being created by the creator about it, and I'm tired of the photos. I'm sincerely happy that Kaneda is satisfied with his purchase, but his initial reaction to our feedback, coupled with some comments he made directly towards me personally when I tried to be helpful have really burned any goodwill I may have. I'm active on here and KLOV, and quite frankly his behavior there was just as bad, if not worse. So forgive me if I look at his posts as "Hey guys, check out my awesome panel!!!111!!" and see them as nothing more that either trying to poke the BYOAC/KLOV bear, or another attempt at trying to get attention. If I have been rude or negative towards him, it's because of prior interactions with him, not his panel.

I hear ya man, but you know you could just ignore him right? ;) Totally up to you, but I've just found life is so much sweeter when you ignore the people who irk you, and this forum makes that easy.
--- Quote from: kaneda on February 03, 2014, 11:09:08 pm ---Hey guys,
thought I had apologized many times before for my control panel freak out, but I'll say it again, I'm sorry and you guys were right and helped save my build.
I know that Mario Kart is being run through an N64 emulator, so my bad for saying MAME.
Still surprised nobody running Mario Kart has seen or diagnosed this issue. But I'll try replacing the ROM with the Euro version to see if that works. If anyone wants to help me try this, I'd appreciate it. I've watched a bunch of videos and google searched how to do it...doesn't seem to hard, but always prefer someone who has done it to help me learn.
I'm really sorry guys that I don't know much about this stuff. I'm working 12 hour days just to earn enough money to be able to play around with this hobby. I'm a newbie and was so uninformed 4 months ago when I started my build.
For those of you who want to keep on flaming me with each post, that's up to you...I'm just a nice guy in NYC who wants to play games with people who enjoy them. everyone who comes over loves and freaks out over the pedestal. You have to remember 99% of people don't even know what MAME/Hyperspin is...
Much love...
Kaneda

Unless he's being the complete opposite of this over on klov or something, I think he sounds genuinely sorry, so how about we just let bygones be bygones?
Group hug? ;D

There is still one issue wide open here. BadMouth owes somebody and I guess it's you 20 bucks ^^

What?!?
I don't see how "Mario Kart 64 looks so sweet on MAME" has been proven correct.
The MESS code isn't part of MAME, although there are builds that combine them and call it something else.

Its been confessed it wasn't on MAME. Can't prove when the OP knew it wasn't MAME though.

You don't need to replace the rom. You can simply add the new rom and see if it works. It's literally copying a file to the proper directory on your computer. If it works better than the current rom, you can delete the old one. But I would simply keep the old one on there also.
For a lot of people here, running a N64 emulator isn't ideal with cabinet controls because of the lack of an analog stick. That may be one reason you aren't getting a lot of help. Also, you'd probably get better luck searching a N64 emulator site rather than BYOAC.
Get whatever rom you need for that game and copy it to the same directory as your other N64 roms. I dont use Hyperspin but you may need to refresh your game list. If you have questions, post em.
