| SpatzST:
I am going to order from groovy game gear... Does anyone have experience with either their GP-Wiz40 or Eco models? This is how I would hook up buttons and joysticks? It seems to be a keyboard based adapter, so can I use two of them or will this mess up my binds? Also, has anyone used the xin mo model USB Adapter? Thanks |
| RandyT:
PS/2 to USB converters are not recommended. There may be some good ones out there, but most will not be good for gameplay. They usually have built-in "stuck key" fixing code, which ends up releasing the keypress after it is sensed down for a duration. Likely also a simultaneous keypress quantity limitation. A majority of gaming applications, including MAME, have no problems dealing with native game controller output. |

Thanks --- End quote --- I have the GP-Wiz40 Max & the KeyWiz40-ST from GroovyGameGear on different controllers. Both are Top Notch interfaces. Yes, that is what you would use to interface the joysticks & buttons. The GP-Wiz40 is a USB interface, so it is seen as a joystick controller. The KeyWiz is a keyboard interface, so it is seen as the keyboard. Both are fine & work great for MAME, both are pretty much set to Mame right out of the box. If you are going to use two GP-Wiz40's together, make sure you get the USB Device Number different for the second interface. Second option is using the GP-WIZ & a KeyWiz together. So, I am assuming that you need a 4 player setup if you need two interfaces? RandyT's interfaces rock :) You can not go wrong with either one, I am about to get another GP-Wiz40 for my rotary joysticks. That Xin Mo is consumer grade, were the GP-Wiz & KeyWiz are top notch quality. |

Have you considered the IPac4 from Ultimarc? Scott |
