KADE

Minor point of clarification for anyone wanting to go this route -- the standard KADE AVR only handles digital inputs.

You'll need a KADESTICK AVR/firmware (link in sig) or KADE Plus (still in development AFAIK) for analog inputs.

Thanks for pointing this out.  I'll keep that in mind.  We are going to boldly go.

The list of SNAPS that need wireframing: Post any games I've missed and I'll get them added to the list.  Ones that are marked through are done.  All PNGs are transparent with an outer glow on the wire frame.  I can convert them to no glow and a black alpha channel if anybody needs that for a specific FE but this should work for 99% of people.  The size is 800x600 but they seem to upscale well enough to at least one resolution higher if need be.

MAME
    - Esb
    - Sw
    - Firefox
    - Stunrunner
    - Tac/scan
    - Tail gunner
    - Galaxy force 2
    - Paper boy
    - ROTJ
    - Hydra

Supermodel
    - Sw trilogy arcade

NullDC
    - Sw demolition
    - Starblade

Project64
    - Sw shadows of the empire
    - Sw ep1 racer (also on PC - which is better?)
    - Starfox64

SNES
    - Starfox

PC
    - Sw rogue squadron
    - Free space scp
    - Diaspora
    - Starfighter (requires additional controls)
    - 3D Starstrike
    - X-Wing vs Tie Fighter

Should we add After Burner?  Anybody play that, anybody play that with a yoke?  Is there a second one that's well emulated?

3D Starstrike is the only two color one I've done so far, I like it but can do a monotone in anybody feels the need.  Tac/Scan was a scratch build, I'd really like a font like that but couldn't find one.

<Edit:  Changed out the snaps.rar to the most up to date pack>

Good work LeChuck!, would you be willing to share the full MA theme? - just installed the FE.

So I have found out why I never added 3DStarstrike to my front end - it only recognizes A mouse for input so no joystick.
joy2mouse works - badly, maybe another utility will work better?.
X-wing vs TIE works great with a yoke, but then again I am using an Apac so its just seen as a joy.

regarding the yoke interfacing I have a spare hacked dual strike if anyone could use it?.

Absolutely if you are keen, it works fine - I just left it off for more spacey games.

Other possible titles are:

  N64
     -Aerofighters assault
     -Aerogauge

      Possibly Paperboy again? (worth playing)

  NullDC

-Aerowings 1 + 2 (require extra buttons though)

Want to say thanks again for the snaps LeChuck they fit the vector starwars style perfectly - way better than the hyperspin one I was using.

It looks like you have made some improvements to your cab.  Parts are glowing and colored that weren't before.  The drop down monitor looks different to.  Do you have recent pictures?

Yeah I still seem to mess with it each year  :banghead: .
The small screen is a vga one to replace the expired usb POS.
The plan is to move it back and box it in as there`s lots of empty space above the main screen.
Not happy with the 12 half tube reliefs being grey now so will change them back to black.

The corner details are mdf with some formed tinted plexi with EL tape behind.
The EL tape whines like a banshee.

EDIT: So going back to games that play well with a yoke I am going to shout TEMPEST its such fun with a yoke, you need to give it its own ini to slow the yoke down and add a deadzone but hey.
Some snaps are included if anyone wants them :) .

Anyone know a version of mame that plays the battlezone speed hack rom from AAE? as that could be fun too.

How did?  What the?  Where?  This thread is great.  This surprised me more than having two proton torpedoes destroy a large space station.  But I guess if you can bullseye womp rats in a T-16 anything is possible.  Thanks everyone for the download links.  I'll have to create a new cab.  And I'll use a joystick instead of a yoke.  Because that's what Le Chuck would want.   >:D

Still working out a few niggling issues with MA and trying to get a solid dl together for everyone's use.  Will be a while as I might move to a different FE.  In the mean time I'll finish up the last few screenies I have to do and get those up.  I'll also see if I can upload some better starfield simulations since I've taken to making my own.

Project64
    - Sw shadows of the empire
    - Sw ep1 racer (also on PC - which is better?)
    - Starfox64

I have both but prefer the N64 since there is a code to play with 2 analog sticks.  You can make a set up where it controls like the arcade game:

I also highly recommend Star Wars Arcade on 32X.  This isn't the same as Trilogy on Supermodel. It works great on Fusion. Last I checked it didn't work on MAME.

This was a great Star Wars type game for the Atari 5200.  Works great on MESS and did use an analog stick.

Already had this on one of my cabs and never even realized, thanks for sharing!.

So I have yet again borrowed Le Chucks work (thanks man) and embedded the text SWF from earlier into the background vid I am using.
Think the GameEx theme is now done, if anyone wants it I will upload it somewhere tomorrow.
Funny thing is its only now that I feel my SW cab is finished properly, only took two years  :) .

I will dont worry, but think it needs a proper readme first, lots of settings need to be turned off for it to work properly.
Not sure if its too niche for the GameEx forum as it just will not be suitable for general use.

Most of the credit must go to Le Chuck though, and you will of course need to grab the snaps separately.

1) Thanks but unneccessary, we're in this together so credit is due all around
2) I will get a fresh snap pack up by this coming weekend.  I'm sorry for the delay, I've been splitting time between several other projects but don't want to leave this one sit too long so I'll get after it sharpish

-break-

Does anybody else using Maximus Arcade have issue with sound effects not playing on game selection?  It's driving me bonkers!

;D Cooperation, I remember them singing about that in sesame street.

Got a bit bogged down but am still working on this - the multi starwars one is good to go just needs a readme, and a second more general use one has one small niggle.
Will post when all is sorted, but here is how they look at the moment.

So I have finally finished messing with the gameEx theme and have come up with two versions "ALUMINIUM FALCON" is the real bare bones one and comes in 1600 x 1200 but another .INI is included that will bring it down to 1024 x 768 if needed.
The second version "RED Leader" has a text box and smaller snap window and although still bare bones is more suitable for less niche cabs.
Again various .INI files are included that will alter how much info is shown as well as the text color.

You are very welcome, Le Chuck is still beavering away in the background though so its not over yet.

Anyway here is a shot of the final ALUMINIUM FALCON theme.
With all this talk of space sims I ended up buying a used HOTAS after all, the aim is to use it for a bit then decide if I want to build a cab around it?
Now if only X could be like this all the time...

Finished up the snaps for:

Freespace 2
Diaspora
Wings of Saint Nazaire
Afterburner

There might be one or two more to tackle but I think I'm reaching tracer burnout on these so I'll get the FE wrapped (I've called in help and might be switching FEs if we can work some miracles) and get everything posted.

I've been really frustrated at Maximus Arcade - seems a shame to work on this project and end up with "almost perfect but not quite" so I have been trying a lot of different FEs.  A metric crap load of FEs.  I saw Arximidis' homebrewed HTML5 FE a while ago and finally had some time to tinker around with it.  Thanks to a ton of help from Arximidis we are getting a pretty good product together.  There are still some wrinkles to iron out (sound effects, some gui elements so you don't have to edit the html files line by line.....) but Arximidis has been cranking out the updates and I think we'll get a good alternative to RockyRocket's awesome skin for GameEx.  That way there will be at least two options out there and both will be slightly different with regards to effects and what you can do with them.

This is where we're at now - again, not a 100% solution, but getting closer!  Backround doesn't repeat in the video but that's my fault, it now repeats.

Not to be 'that guy' but did you notice that Empire is cut off in the top right corner?

yup, we discuss it over in Arximidis' thread.  There is a break where the marquee goes, Arximidis is adding a feature to selectively disable the marquee in the next update so it shouldn't be an issue.  He's also adding some sound options and additional layout controls.

I'm going through and setting up 20 games now.  It's pretty easy but if you have a ton of games I'd recommend using the lower level menus that are available as well.  Each game has to be set up individually for this FE to look the way we want but I think it's going to be well worth it.

Where I'm currently at with it.  And yes, I did put chose and not choose and no it wasn't on purpose.   ;D  I'll get that fixed

Updated!  I also did a background that says "May the Force be with you" so both will be available.  Most issues are fixed now, just need to get sounds and launching animation complete.  Intro movie already works, I just don't have one I like right now.  Background music also works and Arximidis may set up an option to rotate music based on what game is showing.

Hi guys,

I was messing around with a javascript starfield simulation that I found on the web (http://www.chromeexperiments.com/detail/starfield/?f=`) and it was surprisingly straight forward to adapt it somewhat into a layout for the attractmode frontend.

So I've got a layout now where you can use an analog stick to "navigate" as you fly through the starfield.   IMHO it looks pretty good with the great snaps Le Chuck has posted on this thread.   Thanks for sharing your work and ideas.

In case anyone is interested, I've got a rough video of what I have so far and a link to the layout below:

 :lol

I'm really liking all the effort being put into this launcher, it'll save me making something for my SW cockpit when I eventually get it together.

Well the FE is what you interact with when you first approach the cab - I've always been frustrated by how incongruous they look in SW cabs.  There are good driving FEs out there, and fine ones for regular gaming, but there was a dearth of good flying FEs so this should help fill that void.  You drop a looping sky background in place of the stars, change the icons a bit, and you've got a great sky cab fe too.

Hats off to LeChuck and raygun on your efforts. Some really nice stuff.  :applaud:

I really like the bouncy navigation effect that raygun is showing.

I could just imagine using a spinner or stick to nav left and right, with the current logo zooming off screen in the opposite direction and the new logo zooming in from the navigated- to direction. Not trying to make more work. I love where you guys are going here!

1) Thanks but unneccessary, we're in this together so credit is due all around

Not to derail  this thread (like it never happens) BUT, why, in every dance movie when everyone people dance together for the first time they know the dance perfectly and are perfectly corrigraphed?  I would pay to see this in real life.  In real life you know everyone would be making every mistake possible and look like total asses.  Man movies are full of so many lies.
