Dreamcast questions

With regards to using a PC keyboard/Ipac/Keywiz with the Dreamcast, I've seen a number of convertors on Lik-Sang's site. Here's a link to one of them:

Could one of these do the trick, or will it only work with games specifically designed to be used with the Dreamcast keyboard.

Sorry, there aren't any DC games specifically designed to be used with the keyboard (outside Typing of the Dead, and something like Phantasy Star Online...and these are for typing, not game movements and funtions).

Here is a quick explenation of what I just built and it seems to work, I haven't hooked up to a PC yet, but it should work fine.
I wired my joysticks and buttons to wire blocks. On the opposite side of the blocks I wired up db25 connectors which I plugged into the output/input db25 of a parallel switch connector.
I then hacked a DC pad, a PS2 pad, and an Xbox pad each to it's own db25 connector. I plugged these into A,B, and C on the parallel switch. This leaves D open for a PC encoder.
This eliminates the need for diodes since you only have one connection at a time. All the grounds and voltage for the pads are run through the parallel switch.
I drilled a 1 1/8" hole that the switch sticks through so I don't need to open the panel to select a different system.
I'd post pics but this was my first attempt at a control panel and was just for practice. I learned a lot when it comes to wood working, so I have more confidence when it finally comes time to build my cab.

Aww, man, I was at EB Games here in the 'States today and they had their used Dreamcasts for sale for $19.99 and they came with a free $7.99 (or less) used game of your choice.
I also picked up a native DC keyboard that looks brand new for $7.99.

I've just been looking at the Dreamcast section of the BYOAC site (http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_dreamcast.shtml). Apparently there is an adaptor available called "Total Control 2" which enables you to use a PC keyboard in place of a Dreamcast controller! So basically with this adaptor the PC keyboard can be used for all standard Dreamcast games and not just the few that use the Dreamcast keyboard. Unfortunately it appears that the keyboard can only be used for one player's controls however this is better than nothing, and certainly better than messing around with molex connectors, diodes etc. Another bonus for me is that the adaptor also enables the superior (IMHO) Playstation pads to be used with the Dreamcast, and I've got a couple of those lying around.
I'm wondering whether anyone has had any experience with one of these adaptors and whether there are better alternatives available.
They are listed on Lik-Sang's site:

Thanks in advance
p.s. I've now bought a Dreamcast!

I'm not sure how else to phrase this but, nope, nada, noway, negative, it ain't going to work. That page you referenced is a 3 year old dreamcast page with (obviously) some bad info. I wrote the console faq to replace that page. In fact, I don't even think that page ever saw the light of day until it got linked inside the the new FAQ (and its just there for historical reference only).
But if you'd like to waste your time and money seeing for yourself, go right ahead.
