Got a multi-meter?

MajorHavoc:

From your description, it sounds like you have a SPDT switch (Single Pole Double Throw).  One of the contacts is normally open, one is normally closed and the third is ground.  You will want to use a meter or other means of testing contunity to identify the normally open and ground terminals.  Follow the link to a slideshow that will take you through the terminal identification process (the good stuff is about 10 slides into the show).
