Time to disable account autocreate
« on: December 10, 2013, 07:08:15 pm »
Looks like we have our first two spammers.

If it goes anything like Spoot's wiki, many more spambots are going to follow VERY soon.

How's disabling account autocreate going, Saint.

Spoot may have some tips on how he did it.

Nuked, new user creation disabled. Can you see if you can create a new user with your access PL1?

I blocked the 4 apparent spam accounts since one of them tried to restore their userpage.

LMK if I messed something up.   :dunno   :lol

Once you're logged in: On the login page you can "register" a new user. Simply enter the forum username and make up a password. I didn't use the send password by email option- simply because the email is not visible to me. Don't tick the login as this user box and you're done. I then PM the forumuser their wiki password with the request to fill out their profile in the wiki.

You can also get to the user creation page via the Special pages.

As Grandpa was fond of saying, "If it was a snake, it woulda' bit me."   :laugh2:

Good to go on account creation.

Wrong thread, Ed.   :lol

The Wiki hasn't been spammed for about 7 months now.   ;D
