I just hooked up my mame arcade to a newer computer, and am having problems with my tornado spinner. The trackball and spinner are both hooked up to windows 7 computer. The. Trackball works perfectly, but the spinner doesnt work at all. They are both recognized in Device Manager under Mice..HIB compliant mouse. But the the cursor doesnt move at all when i spin the spinner? I should point out that the spinner has a ps/2 cord...i am using a ps/2 to usb cord. Any ideas? |

Unless supported by the spinner (the ps2 to usb adapter was shipped with it), there is a good chance that it wont work. The adapter has to be supported in hardware. You'll have to buy a universal ps2 to usb adapter, like this one http://ca.startech.com/Cables/USB-2.0/USB-Adapters/USB-to-PS2-Adapter-Keyboard-and-Mouse~USBPS2PC |

Thanks for the reply. But how do i know that the adaptor in your link will work? Obviously mine doesnt appear to work. How is your adaptor different? |

Are you using an adapter that came with a mouse per chance? Like this one? Usually the electronic used to make the conversion is already in the mouse for those. The cable I linked to is an universal ps2 to usb, meaning the electronic is in the cable. This one specifies that it needs no drivers, but I have seen some that do. But sadly I cannot guaranty compatibility with the spinner... :-[ |

No...the adaptor pictured plugs into a ps/2 input...i have a reverse adaptor..the spinner has a ps/2 end..so i need a ps/2 to usb...which is what i have? Driving me nuts :hissy: |
