Sonic of Spain 1977 Mars Trek (EM)
« on: November 01, 2013, 02:04:13 pm »
hi i just picked up my first pinball for $100 bucks when i got it it was dead but i have it working now except...
the game only works one player and never stops just keeps giving you the ball to play again wont leave "Ball 1" and dose not seen to use or care about credits the start button dose nothing but if i manually coin up i can play and if i put more credits in it will go from 1-4 player on the light but it still only goes one player, i can manually change it to 2,3,4 player position and it scores on the 2,3,4 player scoreboard but it wont do it on its own.
i cleaned all the steppers and they move easy
everything seems to work except the ball count stepper stays on ball one no matter how many balls are lost
and the player select stepper and credit wheel stepper never move or even try and move
i have noticed that the Out-hole relay dose not fire when a ball goes down the out-hole it dose get ejected back to the game
and the start button dose nothing once i credit up the game starts
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Have a schematic?

Looks like none of the relays are labeled in the cabinet...are they?

Sounds like a relay similar to a BALLY 'Ball Index' Relay is not working correctly. A Ball Index Relay tells the game that points have been scored and then to advance to the next ball after it drains.

THis is why when you play a Williams' or Bally EM game you get the ball back every time you don't score any points.  On a Gottlieb this only works for the first ball.

I do have a schematic and  manual
iv gone over every wire cant find a bad one

maybe out-hole or coin set up or ball index one of these relays would prevent from changing players .. i think
Thanks

No labels makes identifying relays tough...you will have to do it using the schematic and wire colors.

You can also operate the game by hand and watch and note which relays activate...not easy either.

But since you have a schematic... you should be able to fix this without too much trouble.

Also subscribe to Clay's pinball ninja blog.  lots of videos there.  he has a process that he goes through with every EM that helps track down the problem areas.  Those things sound like they could easily be switch stack problems that you might find on visual inspection.

Sounds like the out hole may have a dual set of switch contacts and only the pair to return the ball are contacting. Check the oout hole switch to see if there is in fact two switches as opposed to one. I have a Chicago coin em that's this way.
