Cosmetics and GroovyMAME
« on: November 23, 2013, 03:55:42 pm »
Is it possible to change the crosshair images and UI font within GroovyMAME?

It might seem small potatoes, but my guns are actually P1=Red and P2=Blue, which causes some confusion when the crosshair colors are reversed and two players are playing at once. The latter is just for my own amusement, mostly.

Following the process prescribed on Mr. Do's site doesn't seem to work for either crosshairs or font.

Also, I can't seem to change the P1 or P2 Crosshair options from within the in-game UI in GroovyMAME.

Thoughts or clarity on this would be most appreciated.

I was able to change crosshair colours with GM .. just added a cross1.png and cross2.png into a crosshair folder.

Check your mame.ini folder for the crosshair folder that its looking in .. there might be a mismatch between the instructions on Mr Do's site and your mame.ini

As lordsnipe said, changing crosshair graphics should work just the same as with regular MAME.

Regarding the fonts, there's a trick for getting clearer fonts in low resolutions: in mame.ini, go to option 'uifont' and delete the keyword 'default', just leave it blank, that will give you a more readable font.
Important note: posts reporting GM issues without a log will be IGNORED.
Steps to create a log:
 - From command line, run: groovymame.exe -v romname >romname.txt
 - Attach resulting romname.txt file to your post, instead of pasting it.
