This rings a bell.

I probably thought why pay more for less pixels, when I can just hide the extra on the sides behind the bezel graphics.

If I HAD to use a widescreen monitor, I'd hide the extra sides behind a cardboard/MDF bezel.

Here is a Samsung 213T on ebay for $140 shipped (if anyone is looking)...

It's not mine, just passing it along since I had been considering it but went with a dell 2001 instead.

Turn it vertical and use MameLayPlus.   ;D

Those lay files are sick, almost exactly what I am looking for for an upcoming cab project. Thanks for the link  :applaud: .

I bought myself a dell  2001fp when I first built my cabinet. But it went faulty after a few months.

The problem is those monitors are now really old and I didnt want to risk another.
Bought a 2007fp brand new instead for circa £200 on ebay. - 4 years ago. They rrpd way over that 300 plus if you could find one

I can only attest to monitors I've purchased, but keep an eye out on eBay for these models:
Samsung SyncMaster 214T
Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP

I was also happy with my NEC Multisync LCD-2170NX in my previous build.
